Police Story 3: Super Cop

The s- the third was going to see Jackie Chan's Drunken Master II and Super Cop, Cop as a double feature.

Hmm.

And the other one is Raiders.

So for me, the first Police Story movie I ever saw was actually Police Story 3, which in America, it is known as Supercop.

And this is the Police Story with Michelle Yeoh, Academy Award winning Michelle Yeoh.

So this is technically Police Story 3.

She just signed a new deal, by the way.

Congratulations to Michelle Yeoh.

Yeah, same here.

So this was my first foray into the actual Police Story franchise as a number.

But what also stands out is, um, smaller moments.

Police Story 3, there's a moment when he's saving, well, when him and he goes undercover and saves the bad guy from the, or they escape from the prison, and there's a really short fight with a couple of the prison officers.

And the same thing, it's Jackie just going, he does like five kicks, ba, ba, ba, ba, ba, off the same leg, and it's just, it's just real- it's like two seconds.

Yeah.

Yeah.

And so we get these Ong Bak-ish effects or, you know, because it's not like back then we just had the occasional Jackie Chan movie that got a theatrical release, you know, like Rumble in the Bronx, you know, Supercop.

But before that, even in the 80s, his stuff never got U.S. play until five or 10 years after its release.

you know, in, like, evening theaters.

The greatest living action star of all time remade this film.

It was called Supercop.

So Police Story 3.

So I think the difference is where you could look at the first film and go, oh, that's really interesting.

but that that's kind of jackie chan's stuff is it so some of the some of the chanism is there and there's a there's this good stuff here there's a little kind of the chair bit here um yeah

because i think because of this experience did he not make he makes super cop after this does it

police story was the next one yeah

so yeah that's it because obviously he likes the idea of well if you're a cop you're well you should be or usually on the side of good and then you thought well that's I'm already a good guy because I'm a cop and then yeah and have more of his er I

think he likes when he was getting dressed down early in the movie from his lieutenant who says Billy Wong super cop with your hot dog kind of antics and stuff but he did a movie called Super Cop a few years later I think it was probably early 90s so they get caught now there's the head guy of the massage parlour with the glasses here He actually, I see the documentary of this guy, he actually had to put on an accent because he's got like a, I think the way he was brought up, he's got like an English accent, believe it or not.

So he had to put on an accent to make him sound more ethnic to Hong Kong area.

Well see that's the thing because you can be fluent in French but you know your French accent is terrible you know when it's like right you know you know we talked about actors before who are born in one country but you know their American accents you know terrible and stuff you know just because you're born somewhere doesn't mean you can put on you know a French or a German accent speaking in English.

Oh, yeah, and Lucy Liu was from Hong Kong, right? She was in Supercop.

Yeah.

Or no, that's Michelle Yeoh.

There's a throwaway line in Police Story 3.

Colon Supercop.

Yep.

Nobody

cares, right? And then more important, Supercop has joined us.

And we gave him a microphone because we're stupid.

Yeah.

He needs a cape now.
