Pole position

So we kind of got our own version of Max versus 100 happening here today.

But he's on pole position, so hopefully you'll get to speak to him.

I think I'm going to be doing sort of the back half of the grid.

And it's a packed grid, so it might take me some time.

We certainly are, Carla, and thank you for your introductions.

We'll get back to you straight away with the latest from the grid, but we probably should bring to you some breaking news.

Admittedly, a little bit after time now, but late on last night, there was a tweak to the order that the front row is going to begin because, in fact, Benjamin Pack, who thought he'd lost his best lap time of 1.39.909 that was initially deleted but that down to an error within timekeeping was actually a legal lap so that still stands and when you add together the effort from Max Martin and from Jordan Boisson in the 28 Get Speed Team PCX Racing Mercedes they are back on pole to make it still a front row of GT3 Pro-Am Mercedes but sadly that means that Agit Redent Racing lose what they thought was a pole position by one thousandth of a second yesterday it's a larger margin now that that time is reinstated.

Pretty much everything else stayed as it was, though, up and down the grid.

We have just called all the action from qualifying, and spoiler alert, Lando Norris secured pole position.

Described it as one of his best qualifying laps to date for the reigning world champ.

Uh, it's his, uh, third pole of the season for Lando.

The best.

Yeah, I think it's definitely up there.

I- it just came out of nowhere because we didn't even put them, as in, say, them, McLaren, into the fights, uh, for, for pole position in qualifying because they- they'd been struggling over the course, uh, of the weekend, the final free practice session.

Uh, Oscar was looking the better of the two down in, in third place.

As, as I was shaking hands, and we won the pole.

[laughs]

We won the pole.

So, you know, every race that w- I was there we were looking for seagulls to crap back on my hand so we could win another pole.

[laughs] I don't, I don't know what that says.

That supposed to be good luck?

Who knows what will happen after that? We had a massive downpour yesterday evening, which is just drying up, but the first part of the race will be dry, and certainly it's slicks only.

Here's your pole position, ma'am.

Now, if you were with us yesterday for the top five shootout, you'll be going, hang on a second, Nick.

There was no way that the number 21 was on pole at that point, and you're right, but there has been a succession of penalties And the only car in the top five shootout not to get a penalty was this 21992 endurance machine that actually managed to go around without being in any way penalized.

How late were you staying up to do the overnight portrait?

It was past midnight.

Yeah, it's quite challenging because obviously only until late in the afternoon yesterday we knew that you were the pole position car.

So we quickly went into the drive folder to find some photos and there wasn't a photo in the exact right setting.

That is correct, yes.

And last year, Harry King fell foul of this and ended up losing his pole position time because he fell foul of it because he actually left too early.

And I'm not quite sure why the second car which went out to centre, I think it was the 920, went out so close to the 911, the Dieter Schvett car.

The reason I say that is because the third car has not gone out yet.

It's actually even better for us because we just don't need to be so fast with the driver change because if you fuel just before going in and then we come in and we have only driver change with 17 seconds, 18 seconds where the mechanics have to change the tires so now with the fueling we have a little bit more time so yeah it makes it more easy for us but still we have to be careful it's a lot more rules now we have to be careful because fuel is something dangerous so we have to be careful on that point everyone has to go on overall and yeah something taking care of this but at the end for us it's a bit safer a bit more relaxed driver change
