Polaris

That's why the dream goal or objective are so important.

Because having a North Star gives us our location in time and space.

When you see the North Star at night, you know it's night.

When you see where it is in the sky, you know what direction you're heading.

If we don't know where we're going, any path will get you there.

Then this will influence your dream.

Which goes back to the point I made earlier about the idea that the dream influences everything.

It is the North Star in the sense that it carries us over mountains, across rivers, through oceans.

So we're dealing with the wheel of heaven, and actually he's underneath a canopy of stars.

And it's funny because I think that that star on top of his head, to me, it makes sense that it is a reference to the North Star.

Mm-hmm.

And so he is kind of like that pivot point in the center of the wheel of heaven.

The chariot equals 47.

I don't know if I even put this in the book, right? I think I did it in the sermon.

But, um, if you actually go from where the p- North Star is on his head right there, right? And this, the drapery goes up.

There's that point right at the top there.

And then from there, You can start to have these conversations and start to get those reps in of practicing what it means to have this clarity on what you want your money to be the vehicle for.

And like you said, when you do have that clarity on that North Pole or on that compass that you have, it becomes clear.

so much more compelling.

Like all of a sudden, we know what we want.

By the end of the week, teaching myself, I was able to do divers things.

For instance, I shot the North Star at night, of course— got its altitude, corrected for index error, dip, etc., and found our latitude, and this latitude agreed with the latitude of the previous noon corrected by dead reckoning up to that moment.

Proud? Well, I was even prouder with my next miracle.

I was going to turn in at nine o'clock.

What, thought I, have we been sailing with the Southern Cross in the sky of nights and never known it? Dolts that we are? Gudgeons and moles? I couldn't believe it.

I went over the problem again and verified it.

charmian had the wheel from eight till ten that evening i told her to keep her eyes open and look due south for the southern cross and when the stars came out there shone the southern cross low on the horizon proud no medicine man nor high priest was ever prouder Furthermore, with the prayer-wheel I shot Alpha Crucis, and from its altitude worked out our latitude, and still furthermore I shot the North Star, too, and it agreed with what had been told me by the Southern Cross.

Proud? Why, the language of the stars was mine, and I listened and heard them telling me my way over the deep.

Vega, one of the most prominent stars of the northern summer sky, is roughly 25 light years away, still effectively next door.

Polaris, the north star, the fixed point around which the entire sky appears to revolve, sits roughly 400 light years distant.

That sounds far until you remember that the Orion Arm is 20,000 light-years long.

Polaris is 2% of the way across the arm.

Deneb, the brilliant blue-white star at the tail of Cygnus the Swan, is one of the most distant bright stars in the sky at roughly 2,600 light-years.

It is an extreme outlier among naked-eye stars.
