And you know what? It's nice to not feel like Richard Osman.

I'm going to be the other guy from Pointless.

Yeah, who just goes, very good.

Interesting.

But yeah, I literally was like, I thought this guy just sat on the dictionary thing on Pointless and was like, here's some words you could have said or whatever and wrote a couple of nice books on that.

Bloody hell, he's got some insane lore.

Like, fair play

I wonder if at any point they considered using a real TV programme.

Yeah, like, yeah, do a fake episode of Pointless or whatever.

Yeah, or Weakest Link or something.

Anything like that.

And they could have sold that.

So I think I would have believed that if I'd watched it live and they'd said, oh, we're really sorry, we're delaying it till next week.

He's a panelist and a presenter on shows like Pointless, 8 Out of 10 Cats, Would I Lie to You, Taskmaster.

I spoke to Richard earlier this week, and as we began the interview, I was holding in my hot little hand his new book, and I was struck by a most important question, which is, who chooses the font size?

It's a really, really good question.

He invented 8 Out of 10 Cats.

He invented Pointless.

He's the main man behind your telly box, let me tell you.

So we sit down, and we talk all things TV, entertainment, podcasts, and novels, and he even rates his projects from 10 to 1, or 1 to 10, like I did it.

... where, where I was born.

And, uh, I'd, I'd forgotten it's called The Chase.

And The Chase, of course, is the big rival to Pointless.

Yeah.

Mm

... um, from Pointless.

I mean, talk about pointless-

[laughs]

Mm.

That's like, that's like once we did Pointless and Ben Miller came on.

[laughs]

I was so excited.

Stuart Lee's never been on Pointless.

Uh, he has not been on.

That's weird, that, isn't it? It's weird he hasn't sold out.

I'm already learning stuff.
