I had the Girl from Ipanema stuck in my head through most of the, uh, through most of when I was watching it.

And I think that the Aquarena song, Aquarela, whatever it is, has some, some similarity to the theme from Pocahontas, the Disney movie.

So I had that stuck in my head at other parts.

And I'm like sing- I started singing Pocahontas in the background.

Blaise made his first visit after working on the Disney nineteen ninety-four film, The Lion King, and has returned many times to study the physiology and behavior of the animals there.

"The fieldwork informs both his fine art and his animation," says Blaise, who also worked on films like Aladdin and Pocahontas, and was a two thousand and four Oscar nominee for co-directing Brother Bear.

His approach to illustrating lions for National Geographic isn't so different from how he renders an animated character.

"The former may lack anthropomorphic facial expressions," Blaise says, "but I still want to show the soul." His latest animation project is the short film, Snow Bear.

And I feel like I really just started understanding God more when I thought of it as like a grandmother voice.

Oh my God, like Grandmother Willow from Pocahontas.

Exactly.

That is the vibe.

The Disney princess has always been a strong character with agency of her own.

Now, this has grown over the years, but, you know, Disney were doing Mulan and Pocahontas and things like that way before it became de rigueur in Hollywood to sort of actually make films about strong women, strong independent women who weren't just being men, but with tits.

So, yeah, for want of a better way of expressing it, But the point being, Disney are an artistically progressive organisation, and Disney wanted to make artistically progressive Star Wars, but George Lucas didn't really make artistically progressive Star Wars, did he? And that was the problem, is that fans wanted more of the old style stuff, and instead they were getting the new style stuff which made it fall out of favour in many ways, even when they were making better films, I think, or at least in my opinion, than they had, than George Lucas ever had.

But this brings us back to The Mandalorian, doesn't it? So you have this period where Disney are making just films.

Well, he kept going, and I just started singing Colors of the Wind, so.
