Ploughing match

This is a shirt to support our family moisture farmers.

It is, of course, the week of the international plowing match when agricultural matters are top of mind for all provincial leaders.

I knew, you know, it's something that comes every year.

And I had this shirt just waiting for this week to come out because it's the closest thing I can find to the intersection of a very nerdy Star Wars or Star Trek reference, as we like to make on this podcast, or at least as I like to, and agricultural matters.

Yeah.

Do you know the international plowing match is always one of the funniest events of the year because, of course, you've got a bunch of city slickers who are the leaders of the major parties at Queen's Park who all get up on a tractor and try to plow a straight furrow.

And hilarity ensues, I think, is the best way to put it.

Yes, a bit incongruous.

I think the bigger question there, James, and it's the one I think we need to start really looking at is, is it just a blip or is this, you're gonna be here again in two years' time? Um, and that's where a profit monitor, I think, James, will look at that, that if you think your cash flow is tight and you have to go out, do them things, your next step is to do a profit monitor, see the cost of production on your farm, um, and see are, basically are you set up right going forward, and are you able for these, uh, fluctuations in milk price? And, like, the rate of change on milk prices is phenomenal.

Like, so if y- again, it was this only this time last year, James, like, uh, and I got caught on the hop as well, like that we're tipping along grand into August and not a bother, and I don't know whether I was tuned out or tuned in or where I was gone, but I rocked down onto the first day of the Ploughing Match last year, and there was an announcement there was gonna be a 5 cent cut on milk price and more to come.

It seemed to come out of nowhere or relatively fast, and it went, and we all know what happened after that.

But the rate of change dropped over three to four months, 15 cent a liter.
