Please Please Me

Though I suspect a lot of you might not know who she is, unless you're a little older, but at the time, the very famous country music star Patsy Cline was killed in a plane crash along with two other country performers and their manager during a flight from Kansas City, Missouri, my home state, back to Nashville, Tennessee, my other, I consider, home state.

The music group The Beatles' first album, Please Please Me, was released in the United Kingdom, and it cannot be understated what a phenomenal success that that album was.

And then some other famous people born in 1963 were Brad Pitt, I think we all know who he is, Johnny Depp, King Johnny Depp, Lisa Kudrow, John Stamos, Whitney Houston, George Michael, the singer Seal, and the James Hetfield from Metallica, which is, you know, like old school, that's what I listened to in high school.

And so this was the atmosphere that Joseph was born into.

No, they did a great job with it.

And the dumb purchase I made, and I'm not sure how I found this, a lot of late nights of Googling random Beatles CDs, I learned that there were reissues in Japan on vinyl and CD of... of Please Please Me and With the Beatles, both on colored vinyl, only from the Beatles' Japan website.

You couldn't get it exported here.

But there were also CD editions, and these are from 1966, before the Budokan show.

They issued Please Please Me and With the Beatles with these wild covers only in Japan.

And I've got the CD versions right now with the reissue.

It's got a sticker that says 60, the Beatles Japan tour, the Beatles Japan tour 60th anniversary mark.

And they're these awesome, weird versions of these Beatles albums, these reissues with different covers.

And you talk about seeds.

Well, we could go back to Please Please Me, and that's a seed for whatever.

And so it's really easy to do that.

I don't really know why.

We've talked that the Beatles, as soon as they found something that would work, they wanted to change it because they wanted to ever be evolving.

But I think when you're releasing two albums a year, you're making subtle changes.

So you're not, you know, you're not jumping from Please Please Me to the White Album.

But also when you look at the Beatles career as a whole, as far as record releases from 63 to 70, look at how much they changed in those short seven years.

And Chris and I thought, you know, we should do something kind of old school.

So we're going, even before the Please Please Me album, that one-day recording.

This goes back to Prelli.

This was from the Pete Best days, so it goes way back.

But we know this song best from its appearance on the Please Please Me album.

But yeah, so this song... as we said, it's a John Lennon song.

Yeah, yeah, without a doubt.

And I mean, maybe this is too early to say, I think this is my favorite album of this period of the Beatles, which I'd call like the sort of Beatlemania period between like Please Please Me and Help.

That includes Help? I think that includes Help.

I would say this is my favorite album, just sort of top to bottom.

That's good.

But no, all of that's great.

Like the harmonica, it feels like everything is just like kind of placed perfectly, but they're still kind of just like building on that same fundamental like love song formula that they've been doing since Please Please Me.

So like I said, very pleasant to listen to.
