Pleasantville

Who is this? Oh, this is Paula LaPena.

And where are you from? Pleasantville, New York.

Amazing.

Well, guess what, girl? You're going to the New York City Wine and Food Festival.

I mean, I'll tell you a quick Jeff story.

When we were playing in Pleasantville, New York, it was for Westchester County.

They have a giant series, chamber music series there.

And it was in Pleasantville High School.

And we were playing three piano quintets with Steve Prutzman.

And the program was three piano quintets, if you can imagine.

And I was in post on Rush, it was gonna be over m- Labor Day weekend, my wife and the kids were going somewhere without me and I couldn't really go, and suddenly I had this three days, and I'd always talked about trying to do a documentary but I was, I was intimidated by the medium and I just had no direct experience with it.

I'm on the board, uh, of the Jacob Burns Film Center in Pleasantville, New York, and it's a great film society and film education center there, and they focus a lot on documentaries.

At this time, the late great Jonathan Demme was with us and one of the founders, and I'm on the board and so was he.

And so that day that, that this proposition had come to me, I actually took Jonathan aside and I said, "You do great docs and then you turn around and do wonderful scripted narratives.

She phoned another guy who's a mate of mine now called Patrick.

He was from Pleasantville.

You know Pleasantville? Yeah.

Upstate New York.
