Playland

I know, Jim, but this is a matter of Lois's life.

When she explained why she went to Playland, I realized that she's innocent.

Miss Lane says a man named Hemingway lured her to Playland Amusement Park, where he-

Listen to that big mouth.

Look, Doc, supposing the law brings in somebody who knows it was you posing as Mr. Hemingway, the press agent, and tells how you got Ms.

Lane to Playland and into the tunnel.

Ah, how about that, Doc?

Nobody knows about that except you two.

May I ask who framed you, Miss Lamar? Pardon me, Miss Lane.

Listen to that nasty- Quiet, Chief.

A man named Mr. Hemingway, who said he was the press agent for the Playland Amusement Park.

That's right.

[laughs]

[laughs] Well, a few weeks, couple weeks ago, uh, firefighters responded to Playland in New York because Dragon Coaster was on fire.

This coaster can't catch a break.

[laughs]

I have the ...

I already have the guy I know I'm talking to, 'cause I met him on the boardwalk during the fireworks, uh, show on August or September, whenever the hell it was, standing right next to the guy who owns the, uh, the company that puts on those incredible displays over there at Playland-on-the-Pier.

So I, I w- I wanted to talk to him about how he designs the sky, you know? Different level.

You have everything at the, the bottom level that's all blowing up, middle, top.

Dude, it's really cool that you did this thing with the haunted house.

I, I kinda missed part of it because I was actually at my, uh, orientation meeting.

Um, if you didn't know, they brought back Scared by the Sound to Playland.

Y- yes, I did hear about that, and I, w- w- now, is it this weekend and next? Did I miss it? What was it?

And I'm just gonna carry [laughs] that rollercoaster reference just a little further, and I'll stop.

I remember being a kid, and, uh, my mom would take us to Playland in Rye, New York.

Playland.

Oh, they had a w- they, they...

This place is still open.

And if we don't realize God's in full control, it could really freak us out.

It could, it could scare us, right? It could be very hard to deal with.

But whether you're on the Dragon Coaster at Playland, you know, or anywhere else, or just the coaster of life, or coaster of parenting, or in a high-pressure job, or whatever else you're doing, just knowing that God's real and near and having a plan is so helpful.

I thought it was upstate.

Rye Playland is? Rye Playland? Okay, yeah.

Upstate, but I've heard of it.

Oh, it's upstate.

Yeah.

I only know Rye because of Rye Playland.

Yes.

Rye Playland.

It's like when my kid was 13, I wouldn't let my kid go to the.

My kids say, look, I'm going to Times Square to go to the, you know, the Sanrio store or something, you know, you know, not go to Playland, which was just like, you know, criminal city.

And it was a 24 hour, if I if I if I remember correctly, because I used to go there late at night with my friend Brian and Tony in the in the in the 80s.

We would just three in the morning.

We would just drive from Brooklyn or Long Island.

I was on Long Island for for a year and we would just get bored and go to go to Playland.

go to wall hop afterwards, go to grace papaya, the city.

That's one thing I do miss is that, is that, you know, I mean, I'm, I'm, I'm joking about wanting to go back because at the same time, you know, if I was out without, if I was without my phone for like 80 minutes, you know, I'd be lost.

And I kind of feel that it's such a funny little romp of a movie that, you know what, it kind of gives the zombie genre a little more of a kickstart, especially at that point in 2009.

But yeah, I mean, that one is probably just one I go back to quite a bit.
