Platypus Affiliated Society

It's not a public space.

But, you know, starting with Platypus, I was brought into the public sphere in a different way than I had been in the public sphere, let's say, as an artist.

earlier in life before I became an academic.

So Platypus thrust me into the public sphere very early on, even before the Platypus Review existed.

I published an article on Platypus for a journal published here in Chicago called Area Magazine, which is like art, research, education, something or other.

Right.

Very kind of 90s style, 90s, early zero style journal, published as an extracurricular thing by academics, in fact, down at the University of Chicago.

But I did an Introducing Platypus.

And also we're considering collecting Danny's writings to publish as well.

So, first of all, that teaching came out of an internal reading group in Platypus during the lockdown, during COVID, where they read all three volumes, which I always advocate that.

I'm very, very, very negative about capital volume one reading groups.

Because first of all, nobody really gets through all of it.

And so basically the arc was supposed to be from the commodity form to the proletarianized working class.

And so it was supposed to be a total flip.

And in Platypus recently, we're doing Adam Smith.

And I always point out that Das Kapital is modeled on the wealth of nations in large measure, especially regarding the logical and historical.
