Gale and his son Jay built an empire with barns in Tripp, St. Onge, Platte, South Dakota, and Bowman, North Dakota, that with the exception of Tripp, are still going strong today.

A very cultured man who if not for his hat and boots, you might mistake for a doctor or an attorney, maybe even a pastor.

Gale Soller, HBR Hall of Famer, has passed on to the big auction block in the sky at 88.

He shall be missed.

Yep, yep.

Uh, born and raised in Platte, South Dakota, which is about a little less than an hour east of here across the river.

Um, uh, grew up in town, uh, played all kinds of sports.

Um, I guess I was a town kid you could say by definition.

Uh, but I did a lot outside of, of town.

My dad ran the sale barn in Platte for about, uh, 10 or 11 years, and so I was always there, you know, breaking stuff in the back.
