Planet Earth II

Of like going back to basics.

Um, and, and, um, If I talk about GSSs versus basically tripod systems, and there's a style thing, right? We went through kind of a period of Planet Earth, I think it was Planet Earth 2, when they really started using those gimbalized systems where you've got smooth motion shots.

And I still love... tripods and locked off shots and just, you know, almost capturing a photo, a moving photo.

There's something powerful about not moving the camera.

I'm your host, Mike Velinsky, and today I'm excited to welcome Sophie Darlington, ASC.

Sophie is an amazing award-winning cinematographer who has lens projects such as Our Planet, Planet Earth II and III, North America, Penguins, Animals Up Close with Bernie Gregory, and much more.

I thought we could invite her on to hear about her career and about working on Lion by executive producer Jon Favreau, a project filmed over four years.
