Placidus de Titis

So your ascendant would fall somewhere in that first house, and zero degrees of that sign would be the first.

And then there's, uh, Placidus.

All of these house systems were developed by monks for the Catholic Church like a couple centuries ago to try to get very, very accurate.

The most commonly used one is Placidus.

The problem with Placidus is it's based on longitude and latitude, and if you're born in some place like the bottom of South America or Alaska, the system essentially breaks, and you can't get as accurate.

Interesting.

Okay.

Yeah.

And, and, and actually, this is one of the things I love about the seat that we sit in at Astrology Hub, because with so many different perspectives on astrology, with so many different perspectives on the chart, with so many different perspectives on house systems and zodiac systems and all the things, there has to be an, uh, a willingness to continually see ourselves through expanded perspective.

And so holding onto any one definition of ourselves too tightly is bound to get shattered when the next layer of information comes in, and we go, "Oh, wow, I, I didn't think of myself that way," or, "I hadn't thought of it this way," or, "What do I do when I put my tropical chart into a sidereal system, or when I move from Placidus to whole sign? Like, does that, does that mean who I was no long- like, that's not valid?" Or maybe it's a both and.

Like, and so many of the astrologers over the years, Laura, have n- you can attest to this, have been-

The one I teach is equal house.

The other ones are major ones, a whole sign, and the third one is Placidus.

The majority of computer programs, p- computer programs are, uh, Placidus.

Um, more modern ones might be whole sign, and I use equal house, which is one of the older systems of dividing the chart up.

And because it's called equal house, each of the houses are of equal size.

And that's one house, one sign.

There are some time-based systems out there that people swear by that use Placidus and some various other time-based systems that are frankly, I think, more complicated and more difficult to learn.

But what we showed you today here is a one house, one sign system.

I've used and analyzed many.

There's a lot that goes into the evolution of an individual.

However, since we use Placidus, it is very common to have more than one sign.

A sign going through more than one house or more than one sign in a house.

And what it shows is the quality of the energy.

Um, so you're essentially just switching the house system.

The default to almost every astrology system is Placidus and I don't have anything against that system.

I think that whole sign is just incredibly simpler.

I think it's very, very easy to look at to cross-reference and, um, it just makes things 10 times simpler for people.

Now whole sign houses may not be your house system.

Maybe you use Placidus.

Maybe you use a quadrant-based house system.
