Pj Wilkins

Let's talk about X-Factors.

Offensively, I think it's PJ Wilkins for me.

Wilkins has to be solid on the road against a Penn State pass rush that hasn't been great, you guys.

Penn State's pass rush hasn't been great.

Can P.J. Wilkins be solid in this game? It's a big, big question mark for me.

But if he is, I have a lot of confidence in the rest of the offensive line coming together.

I have a lot of confidence in Haywood and Kweke and the guard rotation.

If Wilkins is solid, I think it's a big deal for Wisconsin.

Um, but he's a really talented athletic guy.

Um, but on the left side, I, I just thought it was interesting if you looked at Luke Fickell's press conference, um, PJ Wilkins is the left tackle that transferred from, from Ole Miss.

Uh, as I said, he appeared in nine games as a red shirt sophomore as a reserve.

Did not start any games.

Yeah.

I think it, um, one thing to watch in the office line, I think, uh, that, uh, PJ Wilkins might've gotten a little tinged out.

Yeah.

They put Lucas Simmons there toward the end.

Yeah.

That's not ideal going into next week.

But again, of all the guys on the offensive line, P.J. Wilkins probably has been the least impressive.

I don't

But I think he's played relatively well, at least again, until the fourth quarter against Notre Dame, which was pretty much everybody on offense, um, when they had to start, when they knew they had to start passing and, you know, that's when the dogs kind of got let loose.

But, um, And then also just, you know, PJ Wilkins takes a step.

That was the one guy that Luke truly, truly singled out this week in saying that they needed more from him.

And if they don't get that from him, do they have somebody else that they want to try over there? I'll be interested to see.

I think Kevin Haywood is starting to show things, Colin Cumberley, Kweki.

Maybe you're going to get – I think PJ Wilkins just needs reps, right? He was an attack last year.

He's a guard.

I do think the defense line looks more like it did against Notre Dame.

Austin Kawecki, he needs, he, he likes what he's done, but he needs to be even, even better.

And then he essentially said, uh, yeah, we need to push [laughs] for more from PJ Wilkins.

Um, I don't know what that means, but w- do you have an idea of, of what that means when he said we need to push for more from him?

That he's gotta be better and more consistent.

I mean, if you're going down the line of the guys that you like what you've seen, and I, again, on the honesty piece, I'm glad that he did this 'cause I kinda feel like we've, we've seen similar things.

Um, you know, has every snap been perfect at center? Has, has PJ Wilkins struggled at times? Uh, yeah.

And so, uh, but my...

I would also say, well, what are your alternatives? Uh, you know, do you, do you...

and even a disciplined team.

I don't think PJ Wilkins got called for two holding penalties today.

Again, you shouldn't be beat as the left tackle.

The left tackles you're going to face.

I thought it was just a stalemate, right? I didn't feel like they were creating the necessary holes in the run game, but you mentioned Nick, you go back and look at it and the whole, some of the holes were there, especially on the left side of the offensive line.

I thought PJ Wilkins, he had that one pressure that gave that turned into the interception, right? That was one, one kind of a quick pressure.

Other than that, I thought he played outstanding.

I thought coverly looked very strong and quick.

And he talked about a couple guys being banged up.

He mentioned PJ Wilkins, Eugene Hilton, not really sure on those players.

That's something we'll have to monitor.

But it was an extremely physical game.

So I think stock up on multiple defensive linemen in the first half.

Again, we talked about Bryce West, Malachi Coleman, Stiles Blackman.

P.J. Wilkins was a little up or down, but considering where he was last year as a guard, I thought he looked like he belonged.

Got to be more consistent, but I think you could say P.J. Wilkins stock up as well, just because of the level of competition he's facing, the fact that Ole Miss thought he was barely playable last year, and then you throw him out there, left tackle, and for the most part, I thought he held his own, which I think that's probably stock up as well.
