You're safe if you're running an up-to-date version of the Pixel 9 or Pixel 10, yes.

So this is the Pixel 10

Pro XL.

Yeah, yeah.

But in Android, the only manufacturer where I have not switched to another brand when I upgrade has been the Pixels.

From the 7 to the 8 to the 9 to the 10, every single time I have upgraded a Pixel, it's for another Pixel.

And the Pixel 10 Pro XL, with all the Google smarts and all the rest of it, it is another phone where I feel it resonates on an emotional level.

If you look at it, the Pixel spec-wise, the Oppo smacks it in so many ways, it's not even funny.

Now, some questions coming in.

Jess, is it worth upgrading from the Pixel 10 to the Pixel 11? I love the phone, but I'm struggling to see where the big leaps are to justify the money.

I would say no, to be honest.

Now, I am currently in the middle of my long-term review with the Pixel 11.

And this gets very complicated and in the weeds of kind of chip architecture and things like that.

But just to kind of break it down simply, Google introduced chip-based ARM hardware, MTE, back on the Pixel 8, and it's been on the Pixel 9 and the Pixel 10.

And it's important because memory safety bugs make up over 60% of… the really severe vulnerabilities on mobile devices.

And Graphene OS builds this entire OS around the memory tagging extension.

Graphene's asking the questions like, what good is quantum proof boot security if you're getting rid of the whole memory corruption protection in active daily memory? And so there's an open question there, which is that, did Google...

you know, do it to cut costs in the cost of making the Silicon or did they drop MT because it costs some sort of battery or performance overhead that was affecting the, the, the phones or whatever it might be.

Um, and then, um, it gets weirder because, you know, they, you know, graphene said that because of this, they're going to skip the pixel 11 generation altogether and tell people to stick with the pixel 10.

And they, because of this, like we reported last week, they're pivoting their focus completely to their, the Motorola devices that are launching with graphene on them.

I know Pixel 9 can run Red Dead Redemption.

I genuinely don't know if Pixel 10 or 11 can run Red Dead Redemption.

Am I going to have to buy Red Dead Redemption? Because I don't give money to Netflix.

Right now, we're in one of the off cycles.

I think that was one of those, like, I just got the phone.

I was way behind on reviewing it.

Um, but at least on some gadget guy.com, there's a, no pixel 11 can't close focus better than a pixel 10 or something like that is the title.

And while I was going through comparing the 10 and 11, um, I did also highlight the sensor size differences between the Pixel 11 Pro and the Vivo X300 Ultra.

So I remember having this conversation with you last year when the Pixel 10 came out and your assessment was cool, but kind of the same.

Battery is really good.

But I did notice that, and I can't pinpoint it, but it just feels zippier in my hand.

I don't know if you noticed that as well, but I'd been using the Pixel 10 Pro XL as my main driver and Moving to this, even small things like closing out of apps on the phone, it just feels like split second.

Yeah, I think that's, you know, the Tensor G6 chip is just that more efficient and it's just kind of quicker for uploading and browsing speeds.

Yeah.

I just got a new Pixel 10, man.
