Pitch Black

Right.

Um, or Pitch Black even.

So yeah, it, it's such a strange, out of nowhere, incredible title.

Yeah.

Yeah, there was Pitch Black was the first one, and then the Chronicles of Riddick movie, and the Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay-

Yep

... came out kind of in lockstep in 2004.

okay.

One film that really kind of shaped my teen years, not shaped, but I definitely watched it a lot, was Pitch Black.

You guys remember that one with Vin Diesel?

Was that a Riddick

And I'm like, yeah.

Then I'm like, yeah, Man on Fire and then Pitch Black.

I'm like, I know she's been in other stuff that was more, I don't know, like I thought she was in some other horrors and I got to look it up.

But it's like sometimes you see some of these people.

I know there's one coming later where I'm like, oh, she's been in a lot of this kind of stuff.

It's funny how like some people get on that track.

Is Pitch Black, was that the prequel to the movie

Riddick? I think it was the prequel, but yes, it's Riddick.

Pitch Dark.

Pitch Black.

Pitch Black, that's it.

Pitch Black was fucking awesome.

It was incredible.

For an indie Aussie movie, it was fucking great.

it? Yeah.

Have you seen the third one? Have you seen any of them?

All right.

I will say, for the record, the best sequel to the actual movie Pitch Black was not any of the movies that Vin Diesel tried to make afterwards.

It was the game Escape from Butcher Bay.

Butcher Bay, yeah.

That's got some good cast

there.

Pitch Black is a fantastic film.

Riddick is a remake of Pitch Black almost.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Anyway, what are we reviewing today? Anyway, today we are talking about the 2000 movie, Pitch Black.

It was directed by David Twahy and written also by David Twahy along with Jim and Ken Wheat.

It stars Vin Diesel and some other people.

I have no idea.

No, Triple X was in 2002.

So, yeah, Pitch Black was, like, his first big role.

Cool.

Well, we've already watched it, but we're going to be talking about the Chronicles of Riddick from 2004, I believe.

So somewhere around then, because Pitch Black was 2000.

Red, I think you did a video on Pitch Black for your show.

I sure did.

Yeah.

So if you want a brief little recap on what happened before this, yeah, check out Movies in a Bottle, Pitch Black.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Produced by Kevin Costner, John Davis, and Lawrence Gordon and Charles Gordon.

And written by Peter Rader and David Twohy, who is, we've talked about him before with Pitch Black.

He's, you know, anything Riddick he's part of, you know, and the fugitive.

So I have to admit, it's been long enough that if you had said to me, who's the villain in Waterworld? I would not have remembered that it was Dennis Hopper.
