Pisgat Ze'ev

The area of Anatoth where Yirmiyahu lives is a little north of Yerushalayim.

If you're familiar with Har HaTzofim, Mount Scopus, and the university there and the hospital, the next hill over, the next hill above that on the way to Pisgat Ze'ev, which is a new neighborhood north of Yerushalayim, a little before Ramallah and Beit El, is a, a village called Anata, which is identified almost for sure as Anatoth of Yirmiyahu.

What's special about that area, very similar to Har HaTzofim, is that if you look to the east towards what's called Bekaa HaYarden, or the Jordan River Valley, you see an area called Midbar Yehuda, the wilderness of Yehuda, or the, or the Judean Desert, which is very dry, rarely has any green.

Sometimes in a winter rain, there might be enough shrubbery in order to graze the sheep, but we don't have any trees or things like that growing in the Ju- in the Judean desert.
