Pioneertown

Um, but, you know, you get obviously crazy stuff 'cause, like, you're the one hospital that covers, you know, uh, Joshua Tree, Yucca Valley, Morongo Valley, 29 Palms.

It's a pretty big, like, you know, even Pioneertown and, uh, you know, uh, Landers and stuff like that.

Like, you know, a lot of times, unless, you know, unless there was something that needed to be life-flighted to, like, a higher level trauma hospital, we took care of it.

And so I worked, uh, in the emergency room.

On Thursday, the 24th of June, he headed for Joshua Tree, making a couple of calls along the way.

Bill told his fiancée Mary that he planned on leaving the park by 5:00 PM and was going to have dinner that evening at the Pioneertown restaurant Pappy & Harriet's.

Mary believed that Bill was planning to hike to a place called Cary's Castle, which was the first item on the planned itinerary he'd left with her.

That would have been an ambitious hike for the time of year though due to the high temperatures in the lower portion of Joshua Tree.

Out in the desert.

In, uh, Pioneertown.

That's not...

Yeah, in Pioneertown.

That's not exactly spooky, but it kinda gives sort of a vibe of Western-

They're a very music city.

Playing Chicago is just so different to playing in, like, you know, Pioneertown in California.

Those are two, that's, that's two entirely different types of people.

I, I didn't even know that was a town in California.

Yeah.

Yeah.

I'm glad to see him back out there, and they're doing well.

Yeah, they were just out at, you were at Pioneertown too, right? No.

Oh, no, you didn't.

Okay, I was going to say, because a lot of people went.

Pioneertown?

Yeah.

Well, after college, I came back here to Yucca Valley in Joshua Tree, Yucca Valley, California.

It's near Pioneertown, which that's where Pappy and Harris is.

And I came out here to be with my family.

And then I...

Yeah, we look at it more like the high desert, the low desert.

Like, high desert's like...

Yucca Valley, Pioneertown, Joshua Tree, 29 Palms, and then low deserts like Palm Springs, Coachella Valley, Indio.

So that's where our line kind of hits.

And it's this weird little, steakhouse slash venue where major people come through and perform.

And it's in the middle of this desert and it's in the middle of Pioneertown, which is like an old Hollywood Western studio.

You drive through so much like nothing to get there and it's like pitch black at night.

And I went with a friend of mine and we went to see the lead singer of the X Ambassadors.
