Pink Flag

Well, I guess I'm not talking about American music anymore, but there's so much electronic music and things we've heard where there's not really much blues in it at all, and it might come more out of dance beats and classical or whatever it is.

But why are that early stuff? And they were a band that evolved so fast and so dramatically from that play pop that I have has songs from Pink Flag, and that's the album that I saw quotes from.

minute men and rem as like this band taught us the way which is like hit it and quit it what's the idea that's the idea now we're on to the next song don't belabor it with solos and make the song into six minutes every song is like a minute 50 or something and low down the first time i heard that and it's it's one of many songs i've considered at some point even just playing piano i'm like oh we could do this it's just all like if it's in d it's just all like f boom boom I mean it's so bluesy there you know and then but then Colin Newman is doing his sort of what my ears someone in England would slap me if I said Cockney but that's how I hear like a very British accent you know not a mannered British accent having

the knees up

Which, again, going back to Guitar Slim, I feel like some of those guitar sounds on that specialty records you know the guitar some stuff is also so gnarly there's so much crossover there and um if you strip away just the sneak the punk sneer and the artwork and stuff like that and just want to play that music you'd be like this is just blues music and i wouldn't have been hip or cool in the scene to say like yeah we're really into blues and stuff i'm sure that was like that would get you you know kicked out kicked out of the club but but of course it was source material tremendously for the first wave of it you know

And that was one of the more bloated songs off Pink Flag, too.

I think that one was like two and a half, two minutes, 45, something like

Right.

So, I mean, the, the biggest controversial one, I think will be like me taking the wire single instead of the LP, you know, people consider pink flag, like one of the most classic records of all time for me, again, just kind of being like, you know, a straightforward rocker dude.

Like that record is like, I don't know, dude, I just think the singles better.

So we'll, we'll get to it when we get there.

So I'm not big on favorites, and I don't really make lists like this on my own time, but if someone asks me what my favorite album is, I always say Pink Flag.

I just think it's the greatest... piece of music to sit down and listen to ever um this single is cool it's the exact same versions as the lp i believe you know um mannequin and one two x you are two of the coolest songs on it and uh uh you know what is the song called feeling called love the third song, you know, it like changes things up a little bit.

You know, those first three albums just-
