So he would call me.

And similarly, we all knew he lived in Pimlico in central London, but I didn't know exactly where.

And there were even times we'd all be hanging out and his driver was more like a tour manager security guy.

He's like, I'll get you home because it's late.

But I've been listening to Patrick Radden Keefe reading London Falling, his book that came out earlier this year, I think around March.

which is this really tragic, sad, and very convoluted story of a 19-year-old boy who jumps out of the terrace of a very fancy building on the north bank of the river in Pimlico in London.

And it basically starts with this boy's death and then kind of tracks back to see how this kid who grows up in London in the 2000s in this city that's like marked by wealth, how it affects him, how it affects his sense of being in the world and how he's trying to make a space for himself in this city that really doesn't belong to like an upper middle class kid anymore.

And one of the weird appearances in the book is because he's obsessed with oligarchs and there's a lot of appearances of different kinds of wealth is Roman Abramovich.

Well, bar one thing.

Something George told me gives us our daily word, a famous London place name, Pimlico.

George, our quintessentially English kid, tells this quintessentially American kid, which I once was, that he lived in Pimlico when he was small.

And my tail starts wagging from breakfast to Christmas, because Pimlico may be the earliest American place name in England.

Yes, you heard that correctly.

Usually, the traffic goes the other way.

Boston, Cambridge, Richmond.

But this one may have made the return journey.
