Pikes Peak Marathon

On the women's side, uh, topping kind of like the index list, we have Ana Gibson, who appears to be doing her debut 50K.

And this is kind of fun because Ana just did Pikes Peak Ascent.

Yeah.

Um, but it seems like she's been doing like these kind of long mountainous days recently, just like for fun, which is cool to see.

I think it's tough because I don't know what Ana's been up to, but clearly at Pikes Peak Ascent, she's, like, well fit.

[chuckles]

Well, we were talking a little bit offline, just recovery.

For, for the audience that doesn't know, you ran, you won the Pikes Peak Double, which is the Pikes Peak Ascent and the Pikes Peak Marathon.

Ran two great times, uh, you know, it's, it's a combined forum.

Um, how's recovery going? How's the body feeling? How are you, uh, just kind of, I don't know.

Uh, and he, I think still lives in Oregon right now.

He's had some very good races this year, including sixth at broken arrow ascent, uh, 11th at broken arrow 23 K and most recently eighth place at the Three Lakes Rollercoaster race in Poland He has a decent chance of going top 10 here in the uphill race in my opinion Casey Campbell Last out they all want a while is Kieran at nay 9th at broken arrow sent first male to the top for Pikes Peak Marathon but his hip locked up costing him the win on the way down and Kieran also went 42nd at Sears in all in two hours and 46 minutes and 17th at Broken Arrow 23k.

So he could be somebody to look out for.

Before I make my picks, I'm going to talk about some heads up that Julian gave me about the Canadian men.

And I thought that that was an interesting way to kind of step forward in my, like, advocacy career because the first time I rode my bike to a race was in 2018.

I rode my bike to the Pikes Peak Marathon and back, and in my head, I genuinely was like, "I'm gonna reduce my impact.

I'm not gonna drive.

I'm gonna bike there and back." And I did.

I'll tell you a funny one.

The first time I ever met Zach Miller, I, uh, this was maybe three or four years ago, um, spectating Pikes Peak Ascent or Marath- I think it was the ascent.

Uh, we have this, like, side road called Longs Ranch Road, uh, in the Springs, and, uh, you can in- you can intersect Bart Trail with it.

Ran up to the top, and, uh- ... like spectating, and I see Zach run past, and like, of course, me being a fanboy, I wanna start talking to Zach.

Yeah

... chase the CCC thing? I mean, I get it.

You wanna keep, continue to do what's unknown or harder for you and, and keep branching out, but it's like, dude, you could be-- I mean, he beat-- He was in, uh, the 2023 Pikes Peak Ascent, and I think, to me, to this day still, that was, like, either that or the second place at, um, the Mont Blanc Marathon was his best results.

Uh, and like-

You want to be able to see yourself Where are we going? Right.

This weekend we had some friends that went to the Pikes Peak Marathon, the Pikes Peak Ascent.

Right.

So the goal is to get to the top in a marathon training.

Especially around here, you know, I live in Colorado Springs.

He still holds the Pikes Peak Marathon record.

And so he's a local legend here.

Of course, he held the Leadville 100 mile record for many, many years.
