Pigouvian tax

Uh, it allows a welfare check to still have some purchasing power, for example.

Um, it also gives the government great power, because most taxes, a lot of taxes, are now Pigovian, as they're called in economic terminology.

A Pigovian tax is not...

And, and think of it as having pig in the name, because it tells you a lot.

The purpose of the tax is not to make money for the government, not to create revenue.

I mean, it is.

There's a subset of them, but you basically have to have a Pigovian automation tax.

And it's just like this really massive tax that basically says, if you're going to lay off a worker because you're going to automate that work away, we're going to tax the snot out of you because that's the only way we can kind of soften the blow.

It's like, wow, that's that's where we're going.
