Pichichi Trophy

His lethal efficiency extended into the semifinals against Manchester City, scoring crucial goals across both legs to propel Real Madrid into the final, where they ultimately defeated Liverpool to lift their 14th European Cup title.

Domestically, his 27 goals and 12 assists in 32 La Liga matches comfortably earned him the Pichichi Trophy as Spain's top scorer while securing the league title.

exactly

Like, that's just, I mean, he's going for, it's like when Ronaldo was here, you know, he's going for the Pichichi too.

It's the same thing.

But I think, again, I think you can work more around one player not defending well.

So I think whoever score first wins, Kev.

And, uh, uh, Kev, I think we have not maybe touched on it but how are you enjoying the Pichichi race so far, man? It's true Raphinha is kind of running away but it's like we have so many good players.

Uh, Raphinha on, on 12 goals, Kamayo seven, uh, Kylian on seven, Yamal seven, Roberto Fernandes who I think got a deserved call up to the Spanish national team even though maybe his performance was not the best but still many more to come from him.

And then you have a lot of player.

Uh, Kev, I think I asked this question the, the last epis- uh, the last episode but maybe I ask again.

Uh, who do you think will win? I know it's an Atleti podcast but I don't really see an Atleti player to be honest winning this given like the striker issues we have had like our top goal scorer is by now four.

Uh, but who do you see winning like Pichichi this season?

Um, I said on the last pod- podcast that every time I've done predictions, uh, I've said the Pichichi winner will be Kylian Mbappe and I still think that'll be the case even though if Raphinha keeps the form up he'll probably win it.

We start this episode with Rafinha because fresh off a perfect hat trick in a 3-1 comeback victory over Sevilla, our captain is sitting with 12 La Liga goals in seven matches, leading the Pichichi race ahead of Lamine Yamal and Kylian Mbappé.

Rafinha has now scored 89 goals in 185 competitive appearances for Barcelona, placing him 28th in the club all-time scoring list and being five goals away to matching Ronaldinho.

Even crazier, Rafinha is one match away for tying Neymar's 186 on national teams across the, uh, uh, on the national appearances for Barcelona.

His goals have obviously been extraordinary, but I struggle to get from outstanding goal scorer to best player of the year.

He wasn't La Liga's player of the season, despite winning the Pichichi.

He wasn't the Champions League player of the season, despite being the top scorer.

He wasn't the World Cup's best player, despite winning the Golden Boot.
