Piccadilly Theatre

I mean, it's still my favourite thing to do now as a grown-up.

What was the venue when you were a kid? My first panto, and I have beautiful memories of that as well, was the Piccadilly Theatre.

We were doing Jack and the Beanstalk, which I think is why it's still one of my favourites now because it's the first one I did.

And it was with Cilla Black.

Sorry, on Broadway? I went to Broadway with it, yes.

I started at the Piccadilly Theatre.

Wow.

And then they took me to Broadway with it.

Uh, so what Section 28 does is unite gay men and lesbians politically, maybe not for the very first time, but in a lasting way.

So on the 5th of June, 1988, days after the act passes, there's an arts lobby event at Piccadilly Theatre called Before the Act, which is a celebration of work by gay artists.

Unbelievable lineup, Judi Dench, Harold Pinter, Gary Oldman, Alan Bennett.

Jesus.

Death of a Salesman, the Arthur Millett classic, which actually I saw not so long ago with Sharon D. Clarke, a dear friend of the show.

I saw that at the Piccadilly Theatre in London probably four or five years ago, but it is running.

It's on at the moment.
