How does that actually work? So you do your Raspberry Pi, you ask your AI to make it safe or whatever you said.
Shaun PreeceHOST

I believe, is it something called PiHole you're using?
Steven ScottHOST
28:04
PiHole, yeah.
Steven ScottHOST
28:06
I can't tell you.
Steven ScottHOST
28:07
I cannot tell you on air.
Jared WilsonHOST
46:30
Yeah.
Ryan StivaHOST

It's a Pi Zero, and, uh, I run, it's called Pi-Hole.
Jared WilsonHOST
46:37
Yep.
Ryan StivaHOST

Um, basically it, it blocks a huge amount of the trackers.

So if LG has like hard-coded in IP addresses or anything like that, or if they've even hard-coded in their own DNS servers, unless you block all other DNS traffic on your network, um, it's, it's not foolproof.
JonahHOST
43:33
And these block lists, while they're great, I think people should try out using a PiHole on their network if, uh, if they can, and see how it works for them, 'cause it's better than nothing, and you should always have like m- multiple layers of defense, like a browser ad block, and DNS blocking, and, and all that stuff.
JonahHOST

It is still taking like a blacklist approach to all of these networks, and if, you know, it's not on the blacklist for some reason, these, these connections that they're using, then, um, then it's not gonna work.
JonahHOST
44:05
And I would imagine like a lot of these default lists probably aren't gonna block all LG connections, because they probably don't wanna block like TV updates.
Spartan339HOST

I just don't know how much past that it was.

I spent resetting up my server completely, reconfiguring everything and making sure everything was available, redundant, and well... secure and a lot of people wonder why would you want to do that well servers are cool because they allow you to self-host stuff and you don't even have to have an enterprise server like i do you can run stuff software called Proxmox off of an old crappy laptop and turn it into like a little personal server, running stuff like Pihole, which is a DNS resolver.

DNS stands for domain name system.

A good way to think about what that is, is imagine a phone book for the internet.
