Photogram

A photogram is the chemical preservation of a shadow on a piece of paper.

The, the first photographic negatives were photograms.

Photograms are the oldest thing in photography, and in many ways, photograms are the opposite of recent works such as Molt at the MCA Chicago, which we'll talk about in a little bit.

You've made photograms for a long time.

What about them, I guess, first interested you? And then given that you've been playing with them for, like, 20 years, why do they hold your interest?

They aren't still materially, and then they're physically also able to kind of express what they are as materials.

Well, let's pivot to talking about Molt and other works of yours which use unfixed film, stuff like celluloid, works which, where you, you, you, you, you expose material to light repeatedly without fixing images, just allowing that material to capture and recapture and change Which is in a lot of ways the opposite of a photogram.

Photograms fix images and your works with unfixed film, film that is, you know, continuously sensitive to light don't fix images.
