When I studied at Louvain, or I should say Louvain-la-Neuve, because the University of Louvain split into two branches at the beginning of the 1970s, a Dutch-speaking and a French-speaking one, and so I was at the French-speaking one.

Um, there was a doctoral, uh, community of graduate students, of doctoral students there that, uh, comprised both, uh, medievalists, people, uh, sometimes studying with my own dissertation director, an Irish priest, Father James McAvoy.

Uh, but the Université catholique de Louvain was also, at the time when I was a student there, veering away a little bit from its previous emphasis on Neo-Scholasticism and, uh, and attracting many more students studying contemporary philosophy.
