Phil Ruffin

I do wanna say, I do wanna call out some of the folks that gave a lot of the money, and then we're gonna have somebody come up to speak who's an incredible speaker, but much more importantly, it's the subject, somebody that really, really understands what the vets are going through.

But first we have to talk about people that made a lot of money, and they wouldn't have made a lot of money, they wouldn't even be here if it weren't for the vets and our great military, because the military, right, Phil, has a lot more guts than you do.

Is that right? We have different kind of guts, right? So Carl Icahn gave $500,000.

Mike Tyson used to live there.

The Sultan of Brunei, I believe, used to live there and sold his home to- Phil Ruffin, who I think still lives there, the owner of Treasure Island.

And that that road is between Sunset Park and what we know as Casa de Shenandoah.

The thing is, yeah, it represents a lot of history, but I'm not sure what it looks like now.

You know? That sounds right, though.

It's either Bill Klein or, um, uh, Ruffin.

Was it Ruffin? I think it might've been Ruffin.

It was one of the two.

But either-

About 550 culinary union and other union workers walked off the job at the Frontier.

The strike lasted six years, four months, and ten days, becoming one of the most famous labor disputes in Las Vegas history and ending only after Phil Ruffin bought the property.

This is a really interesting bit of history.

And if I remember correctly, I think Mark does a pretty nice job of going into the history of that particular strike in his book.

And it would be well worth listeners going back and rereading.
