Phil Gould

Yeah, it'd be the Prophet Five.

I mean, you know, Wally was the first person to introduce me to the Prophet Five because when we formed and we made our first very record, our very first single Love Meeting Love back in 1990, Phil Gould, the drummer, he had just done an album with the group M who had that massive hip hop music.

And he'd been in the studio with Wally and he'd seen Wally in action.

And Wally was and still is an amazing sound programmer and synth programmer and i didn't know anything about synths and so phil said let's get wally in to add some kind of fairy dust to the record at first i kind of bristled like hang on i'm the keyboard player you know why do we need a second keyboard player but then when wally came in and did what he did it was like wow this sounds like star wars or something i never heard anything like it and then over over the you know next few albums i would be very closely observing what Wally was doing and realizing that he had an incredible talent for, if you like, orchestration via the synth.

on how to have a record label i mean is there can i google that and find that out

well for the last i think was 2020 and that was before that i've been helping phil gould with his stuff since uh i think it was um yeah it was a 2009 i think was watertight it might have been before that with the gould brown and black thing so from like the artwork side of things i i've had my hand in for a long time and obviously I collected a lot of records and kind of understood the process of music and marketing music and things like that but it was after I'd done the first or the second box set and a guy called Aaron Judd who looks after another 80s band called The Ra Band came to me and they were doing some box sets for them and it just happened that I loved this band as well so he reached out to me he said we're looking for like a brand identity looking for a logo how would you fancy doing a logo so it started with a logo then it was like graphic design and then they played this band's been around since they had they've had two hits they had one in the mid 70s called The Crunch and they had a one in the mid 80s called clouds across the moon and they've got a track called messages from the stars which had gone viral on tiktok so they're having a real resurgence this guy richard hewson like richard uh anthony hewson that's the r a h of raw band right right um he's late 80s um so he's never played live before he's always been like a studio musician and before that he was arranging strings for the beatles and like you know he did like the strings for the Long and Winding Road so he'd like find all the musicians so he'd be in Abbey Road where obviously we were with this record by the end of it so I ended up doing this artwork for them and they put a debut raw band gig on what year it was now 24 or something like that and it was at the Jazz Cafe in Camden and they recorded the gig and they wanted to put it out on vinyl and I said I'll look after that because I'd kind of done Phil's album Beautiful Wounds so I'd been through the whole process short of like you know going to the actual pressing plant I'd done everything else got all the mastering things done for him so I said I would look after it so I did all the artwork and then that one We actually got it pressed in a plant down the road from here.

i saw the sea bass part and i couldn't help but wonder out of everything you started from top to bottom and now you it's coming out of sea bass basically what is the record i assume correct is there are you just scared to death to listen to this thing for the first time and like oh i hope it came out i don't have i don't have a phil gould moment you know like no i've missed

i missed missed an important stage so um the first thing sea bass in any any Press Implant does is gives you test pressings.
