I am Jermaine, and in this podcast, we're going to be talking to Alex Secure, who is one of the creators with the recently completed Phantom 2040 series, a new shadow web series.

How are you going, Scott?

So unrelated, but you just talk about going with the canon, so I think it's probably a good point to kind of jump in.

How do you...

Obviously, the Phantom 2040, the new Shadow series, is not... traditional phantom so how do you how do you go about and obviously you've done it with dick tracy so how have you done it with this one how do you walk that type rope of having your own universe for the lack of better term but also also balancing it so fans can still feel like it's their phantom in a sense so yeah that's a great question

I think when King Features approached me and said we want to do a web series based on not an adaptation, but just something that maybe evokes Phantom 2040, the cartoon, I think the challenge whenever you do something additive to something with so much lore is you don't want to stray too far afield from the source material.

So you're being reintroduced.

But I think an early one that I didn't know I had, and I think it was because of the There was a show years ago called Phantom 2040, an animated show, which is basically like, I think it's Peter Chong.

He might have done some designs for that too.

But that was a, I suppose, a jump off point from Aeon Flux, which I feel like is a starting point of like Egon Scheele.
