Barsey certainly remembers that night.

They had Peter Wright and Gary Anderson, and they had Adrian Lewis.

Now, I reckon those lads up there have one thing in common, and they all quite like a pound note, don't they? And I reckon that format dependent and things like that, I think you could come up with something on a Netflix format where you could have the former PDC world champions.

They all can't get there.

I think confidence is probably the most prevalent word in sport right now.

And Michael van Gerwen does... exude that I mean there are other players on the circuit like Gary Anderson and Peter Wright especially because they have this wave of confidence at the moment they have so much belief in their ability and I think comparing those guys with the likes of Leicester City is very apt right now because if you ride that wave you just feel like there's nothing you can't do in your sport and when that seems to go away you have something called professional doubt and the guys like Michael van Gerwen and you know young Vardy and and all of his compatriots at Leicester City just don't have any doubt at the moment.

They just have so much confidence, and they're just riding that wave, and it's a very, very dangerous thing to have in sport because you just feel like there's nothing you can't achieve.

Little teasers along the way, haven't there? Like when obviously Phil Taylor had loads of different eras with a different rival that might rise and he'd battle them in submission.

And then Van Gerwen had little spells where it was Anderson and then Peter Wright or Taylor before that himself and going price coming and all those types of things.

But it almost seems we thought we were going to get that with Littler and Humphreys.

um and maybe did for about a year but it just hasn't really materialized in in the same way so i do think that um the sport is healthier when there are a couple at least a couple of players that are completely sort of fighting it out and you look forward to those meetings

A little, but I also think, not just Danny, I think there's a few that are in this bracket.

They've been unfortunate that they've played in the Anderson of MVG, Anderson, Littler, Humphries, Peter Wright, and so on.

So I think to win one in that era is decent.

Again, I feel slightly disappointed with Ryan Searle a little bit.

Because do you remember the last event that I did in person with you was what? 21 Players Champs Finals.

And he made the final of that one, lost an absolute classic to Peter Wright in 2021.

How long can you do the same thing over and over before it has to evolve? And when you come on and you do it, yes, it's very familiar, but you have to keep changing it and evolving it because otherwise it's, "Oh, I've seen this now."

What is Prime Michael Smith? What is Prime Michael? When do we class Prime Michael Smith as? Because that's where we're going for the debate here.

Because I'd argue he was better in the 2022 season when he lost the World Finals to Peter Wright, lost the UK Open, lost the European Championships.

I'd argue that he was better than that than when he won the Slam and then when he won the Worlds the following year.

I think Prime Michael Smith is 2022.

To be fair though, the thing is that as Peter Wright once said, we're going back to memories here that we've got.

After that, it is the LPDF's darts competition at a flight club in Bloomsbury.

I will probably change into one of my Phil Taylor or Peter Wright shirts, depending on what mood I'm in.
