But Arizona, um, their former attorney general, Terry Goddard, was so furious with this practice that he, um, single-handedly got a law through the Arizona legislature which we want to use as a model here to say, "Let's allow the attorney general, the secretary of state, whomever, to go back to the original source." So this goes on, can go back, you know, sometimes six times to these different nonprofit entities which are not required to disclose.

Peter Wirth deserves a sher- shout-out here.

He is the Senate majority leader.

He passed a bill in 2019, I think it was Senate Bill 3, that closed some loopholes in the Campaign Reporting Act.

And when you go back historically, one of the big breakthroughs was in 1992, um, after a legislator was convicted of bribery, and that's when many of the major reforms, like the Governmental Conduct Act was passed, and um, the Financial Disclosure Act was passed.

So they, they, um, in 1992, that was one gigantic bill, and we think that's probably the best way to go than to try to pass these as individual bills.

So how do you go about doing this? Do you have someone right now in the legislate, like a Peter Wirth or someone who's really carrying the water?

Well, what, what we've done and w- to the extent we've been successful and effective in the past, is we are truly a b- bipartisan organization.

And so, uh, Maybe, but what do we not like to do in government? We never like to do a test to see, you know, do things work better or worse, which is like, we'll throw it in there and we'll look back a few years and say, man, that it was either great or as often happens, boy, that was a big mistake.

Final item, the Democrats in the New Mexico Senate, they had to meet recently to find new leadership because Senator Peter Wirth is not retiring from the legislature, just from Senate Majority Leader, and they have embraced Linda Trujillo from Santa Fe as the new Senate Majority Leader.

Senator Cindy Nava is the new majority whip.
