Peter Rainier

You might recognize that mountain by a different name.

It's also known as Mount Rainier.

But the indigenous tribes that live along its base have their own names for the mountain, like Tahoma.

And that's important because all of these climbers are indigenous.

It's really important for us to climb up the mountain because we're going to do it in a different way, in a sense that we're going to honor the mountain.

Hilary Penfield is an 18-year-old from the Blackfeet Nation and another one of the Tahoma youth climbers.

I think it being called Rainier is kind of interesting because it's being called Rainier because a European explorer came over here and named it all after their best friends.

Sounds ridiculous, but it's true.
