I love about my job is that every day is different.

I'd recommend the Detective Superintendent Roy Grace series by Peter James.

Each book is a great crime story in its own right, but what I really enjoy is how you get to know Roy Grace and the other characters better as the series goes on.

Feels like you're following their lives as well as solving the crimes alongside them.

Dead Simple by Peter James, the first DS Roy Grace book, is in library as read by Tim Bruce.

So, yeah, the sort of deeply ingrained nature of bonfire societies, I just found fascinating.

And then I started to look into them a bit more and realised that, in fact, they're not really just, hooray, King James wasn't blown up.

But in fact, they, you know, they all came from gangs of smugglers and there's a deep criminality in them.

which again i found completely fascinating so once i'd found all that out you know i had to get bonfire societies in clearly

I have got Amanda Prowse, Frieda McFadden, Nick Svelding, Peter James, Susan Redfern, DS Butler, Damian Boyd, Millie Johnson, Veronica Henry.

These are all published, traditionally published authors.

Yeah, Colleen Hoover, LJ Shen.

But I find his portrayal of a modern human being in the role of a police officer interesting.

to be more convincing than some of his contemporaries like Peter James.

There's no gimmicks.

If you've got the time and the patience, then you'll enjoy this one.

How did that kind of, what did that do to your career and your profile? I mean, that's, you know, top 10 in that.

I mean, I will say that the top one was Peter James, but we don't need to sort of dwell on that at all.
