Today, I'm joined by John Ourand to talk about how political campaigns are spending big this fall to reach voters during NFL and college football games, and how much those ads are swamping local TV markets in big battleground states.

Like, I don't think that if youth football didn't exist, that people wouldn't grow up and want to watch the NFL.

It just seems so baked into our culture, but, you know, maybe that's just a smart thing that the NFL is doing to play some prevent defense in the future.

Then the third thing, uh, Peter, is, uh, the TV ratings.

They're, they're, they're down a little bit in week one.

Totally a done deal.

I don't see anything.

This was, as you know, Peter, the last hurdle between David Ellison finally getting this merger through.

Um, and like everyone else around the world has approved it.

Today, I'm joined by John Kelly to break down all the criticism and scrutiny on the new look 60 Minutes, which suffered a ratings decline in its season debut under Barry Weiss and Nick Bilton.

Those are my niche criticisms.

Anyway, what do you make, uh, of all of the, uh, heartburn around the new era of 60 Minutes, Jon? We haven't really talked about this in a while.

Well, you know, I wanna be careful with my words here, Peter.

I, I wanna make sure that Oliver Darcy, my pal, isn't outside my house with a potato sack, uh, 'cause I know that, uh, reasonable people can disagree about this.

Um, you know, obviously our social media strategy, our podcast strategy got a lot of attention, uh, and everyone thought it was as simple as joining TikTok or going on podcasts, uh, to make yourself more popular.

The, unfortunately for most people in our industry, Peter, uh, the, the more people hear from them, the less they like them.

Uh, and so my advice actually for a lot of members inc- uh, specifically if they are stiff, don't be on social media.

Uh, don't do those, don't do TikToks.

Hopefully, we can have you back on when the primaries are happening, and you can give us your news and notes, and, uh, you can evaluate Ted Cruz's, uh, campaign as it evolves.
