You sure Peter David wasn't writing this? but you know i mean and i will say i was really invested in the first half of the season like i remember watching the because i watched it late once it was all out and i watched the first five almost back to back yeah and all of this stuff on this i mean i was so invested um so it was really only when the ball came in i was like oh okay yeah we're doing that i think it's inevitable

I think the

first half of the season is extremely strong.

Avalone.

We had Peter David.

Peter David was the first person to actually accept the assignment.

And that's how I met J.K. Woodward because he brought in J.K. And I think that might have been one of the last things he wrote.

So that was back in 2022.

Well, you got to get the voices right.

And I don't know.

Again, sadly, a guy that likely could would be Peter David.

And I thought that that was well-placed and well-written in this issue to have her there as someone who will, you know, as a mole, so to speak, to fly under the radar of Shadow King.

Now, the explanation that we get in the epilogue that Peter David writes seems a little silly with how they do it.

He's got a whole page explanation with where Mystique and Rogue are talking with Nick Fury, and it's this whole convoluted story.

But, you know, I can appreciate the payoff that we get here in this issue.

Yeah, and so this was finally the chance that all of them were coming together, because it's like those three and Val Cooper were all under Shadow King's influence.

Now,

in that epilogue, you were talking about when Peter David gives that huge explanation about Mystique and everything, and one of the lines in there is...

Mystique says that she was even hypnotized by S.H.I.E.L.D. agents so that she truly believed she was Val Cooper so that Shadow King couldn't perceive any brain activity that was out of the ordinary or whatever.

It's interesting, A, how many of these Star Trek writers that I actually know, and B, how much crossover there is with them and the Marvel books.

I mean, Peter David, obviously, and then Michael Jan Friedman is one that...

Also a name I know.

Yeah.

but have later since been integrated in some form or way, at least referenced, into the storytelling elements of the Trek Litverse.

So the earliest of those is Vendetta by Peter David, which is a mid-series run Next Generation novel, way before they did the Trek Lit stuff.

But there are elements of Vendetta that get brought into the storytelling later.

So we're going to go ahead and cover that as our first Trek Lit Verse book, and there are several others along the way.

We did not like starting out on such a downer note.

Trust me, it gets better.

And then alongside that is our first pre-Treklet reading journey, which is Vendetta by Peter David, which was a rather fantastic reading experience.

And we'll be coming out with alternating episodes going forward.

Trillane was not a Q, right? He goes, no, he wasn't.

But there was that Peter David book.

No, no, no, no.

Forget books.

With Doctor Who going to tender, Jamie from the Tachyon Pulse podcast and I were discussing how we're concerned that Big Finish, that whenever their license needs to be renewed, we're hoping that BBC will allow it to be renewed and they get to continue.

Because they do – I'm telling you, man, every month – They come out with another one, and Tom Baker is like 92 now or something, and he's still making Fourth Doctor episodes, and he sounds great.

And Peter Davidson still does them, and Colin Baker, and McCoy.

And even they've got Eccleston to come back and do them, and Tenet does them.
