And a great many ads, especially when the direct-to-consumer laws around advertising drugs were relaxed in the 1990s, many of these ads were featuring women, featuring the kind of new 1980s, 90s, empowered working mom who just needed a little boost from her medication so that she could do everything.

And, you know, Peter Kramer wrote a great book about this called Listening to Prozac in the 90s.

But it was really struggling at that time with like, you know, is this something that we should accept? Is this something that we should be encouraging women to do? And, you know, he makes a very nuanced case for what the reasons to do it or the reasons to push back might be.

And then the internet happened.
