What did you want to highlight for coming soon this week?

The biggest one, and I had mentioned this a couple episodes ago when the news first dropped, but Horror of Dracula, the Hammer film starring Peter Cushing, is getting a ginormous chunky box drop.

treatment similar to how curse of frankenstein from hammer uh got the chunky box treatment last year um hands down one of the best physical media releases of that year and one that i was really excited to own because i adore curse of frankenstein i love it so much and that box set came with At least six, if not eight, discs.

Three versions of the movie.

They took Dracula, Frankenstein, the Mummy, and the rest of that old gothic tradition and gave it vivid color, blood, sexuality, atmosphere, and a distinctly British personality, and introduced those monsters to an entirely new generation.

And along the way, names like Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing, Terence Fisher became practically inseparable from Hammer Horror.

And the studio didn't invent gothic horror, but it for sure helped make it fashionable.

And while this may be our first Hammer film, Terence Fisher isn't actually a stranger to the Obelisk.

Yeah, sorry, go on.

But yeah, we've got Peter Cushing starring as Victor Frankenstein.

We've got Hazel Court, Robert Urquhart.

We've got Christopher Lee.

He was my father figure, older brother figure my whole life.

Because this whole film is heavily focused on the idea of what Dr. Frankenstein really wants is for his friend to like be on his team yeah yeah um to the point

that i have to point out that peter cushing is older than his tutor yes yeah that's that's my that's probably my only cinema sense moment of this film but it did take me out of the picture for a minute when i like i'm like peter cushing is older than that guy what the yes

rick yeah you know for sure But the film even ends with him, like, you know, begging for this guy's kind of like it for his acknowledgement, you know, to and at that point, you know, he won't be given it.

Aliens in the Mind.

Co-starring Vincent Price as Curtis Lark and Peter Cushing as John Cornelius.

When Flora Keary is murdered, Lark and Cornelius decide to tell her father, the MP Ian Sanderson, that he is himself a mutant, able to be manipulated by the unidentified controller, the same person who ordered his daughter's death.

Shocked and horrified, Sanderson agrees to help them trace the organization back to its source.

So Hammer films, Amicus films, two pillars of sort of victorian style castle mystery horror movies kind of thing yeah and he is the star i i wanted to pick a movie where he was the star because he appears in a lot of these movies but he's also often like the real stars are like peter cushing and christopher lee you know okay um and thankfully he's the star of um part of the black museum
