Yeah, Peter Boyle just kills that role.

And then it also, if you remember his stature as an actor at the time, that makes it even funnier that he's there in that role.

Oh, yeah.

This one is a loving parody of the universal classic Frankenstein movies, with Wilder playing the grandson of the mad scientist, drawn back into the family business when he's left the castle and all of its secrets.

With Wilder leading the greatest cast Brooks has ever assembled, Madeline Kahn, Terry Garr, Peter Boyle, Marty Feldman, Cloris Leachman, Kenneth Mars, Gene Hackman, come on, and an affectionate take on the subject matter, Young Frankenstein bookended Brooks and Wilder's year with a totally different type of spoof, and it's one that works just fine if you've never seen the originals.

But if you have seen them, it's ten times funnier.

This is someone else's movie.

I do think, as opposed to certain other Brooks films, which were just explicit parodies, you know, beat for beat, the way Robin Hood Men in Tights or Spaceballs were the later ones, where he is just hitting the beats everyone wants him to hit.

There is something here about the... fealty to the original James Whale look, and to the point where they even thank someone at the opening credits, right, for getting the lab equipment out of storage somewhere.

It is as authentic and accurate as possible, right down to the green makeup on Peter Boyle that no one sees because it's in black and white, but they matched it.

They wanted to make sure whatever textures were in the original were there.

No, no, but from The Godfather, well, Lee Strasberg, if all the students voted for him, who were in the Academy, all the actors, which is probably what happened.

I will also say Peter Boyle in Young Frankenstein is fantastic.
