What have been your thoughts on this whole year of just phenomenal projects being put out?

I felt like, you know, after the Common project, I had this energy, you know, and I got with De La Soul and I did like four songs on their new album.

Congrats.

Yeah, thank you, man.

And, you know, I felt like we can remedy this culture, you know, with the stand up men that are still around, that's, you know, willing to sacrifice, you know.

Not nothing really detrimental, but just maybe their time, the dedication to remolding and reshaping the game.

That's that takes more than one man to do, you know what I mean? And so, you know, when I worked with De La Soul, And it felt really good because we, and it was like bittersweet because we, you know, Dave is gone, you know what I mean? So, you know, but the music was inspirational, you know, and it was hard to do a song I did called A Different World.

I love this man from the depth of my heart.

Um, I'm not afraid to call him my brother.

[audience cheering] Even when church was just few months old, he used to come and be a blessing to us.

And that covenant we've caught together has been established for more than a decade now because we've known each other since while we were in school in Zaria.

Is freedom of speech under attack, especially in social media? Is there a muzzling that's taking place on social media when it comes to freedom of speech?

Of course it is, man.

You got a lot of people watching you.

You got people just get on your page just to hear what you're about, just to hear what you're talking about, what kind of rhetoric you're pushing, you know, and, you know, doing this on Instagram.

Like, They were saying this in the pandemic, man.

You know what I mean? And so and so now, you know, I have issues with people because of things I said online.

And, you know, they punish me or tell me that I can't come to an establishment that they own.

It's y'all history because y'all put us in these chains.

You guys created a sound, you know, Well, to this

day, man, like, I don't even know how I did it, man, but, you know, my man passed, and I was depressed, bro.

Yeah.

And so that thing came out of depression, like, for real, for real.

That's right.

I came from a sorrow out of my soul, and boom, here I am sharing it with the world, and that's... what it sounded like, me sad inside, like that's me crying, like basically the beat.

And so, boom, I came across this record, right? And as soon as I heard this Tom Scott record called Today, I started listening to it.

Cabin in the Sky I have to admit like it's a really really fucking great album at this stage of their career you know what I'm saying and in the status and you know where they were as human beings at the time as well they had

Right.

So the first three, the second one, disc I put in, when I played it, he just said, "Oh, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait a minute." And he just stood there and closed his eyes.

And I was like, "Okay.

That means he likes it."

Ooh.

So I was working with him, and, you know, he called me and he said, "Yo, listen to this." And I was driving at the time.

And he, he, some voice got on there that was familiar to me.

And Pete Rock said, "No, I forgot." How did that fall apart, and is it to the death, like...

Hmm.

You know, in this business, bro, like, when you come across different personalities, but you match with one talent-wise, but, like, physically and mentally, it don't work.

You know, in the very beginning it, it worked, but once you get, get to really know each other, the real them comes out, and it stirs up a, a bad character in me that I don't want to come out.

At, at first I was mad at the fact that I had to deal with somebody of this stature who's very different from me.

These young boys wanna stream.

Only the pioneers can save this.

Only people like us can save this, that understand the realness of what we're doing.
