Perth Airport

Yeah, my parcel hasn't arrived yet.

It's been at Perth Airport for like five days, so

hopefully it comes today.

I fly out of Perth Airport that night-

... at 10:45 PM to go to New Zealand.

They wanted it to be absolutely perfect all of the time, and you were really stripped down if it wasn't.

So if the pork that came in was left on the tarmac at Tula- um, Perth Airport, and it arrived a bit spoiled, or a bit sp- spoiled, I would just be ...

It wasn't my fault, obviously, that these things had happened, but I was stripped down so badly.

And so, I'm not abused, but in so many words, um, abused.

So, as usual, I like to combine these things together, because if you just talk about things like the triple gem or precepts, it can be a bit too theoretical.

And actually, if you explain how these things are actually used in daily life, for example, someone like me who flies around, how can you actually use these things to make your job more peaceful and more tolerable and more enjoyable? because it's true i do fly a lot there's many people i get to know personally now in perth airport even our librarian abby if she's here there she is in the front i keep meeting your cousin at the immigration Let alone all the other people who stamp my passport, who say hello, and where are you going this time? And you do spend a lot of time up in the aircraft.

I know that sometimes people think that that's not environmentally good because of all the greenhouse gases which jet aircraft spew into the atmosphere.

But then again, I've got many carbon credits because I'm celibate and never had a child.

It's not only that.

It's also, you know, you've got the good attitude, and also being at the present moment and being nice and peaceful.

But also, can you just stay in this moment? I think the most important thing is learning how to be in the present moment when you're flying in the aircraft and be very peaceful not worrying about things not thinking too much and just relaxing not getting tense and also not having too many expectations because just like in real life the unexpected often happens for example one of our monks some of you may know him he was flying from adelaide to perth and when he came when we met him at perth airport he was smelling like a distillery he smelt of alcohol whiskey and when we question them about this because you know they serve free alcohol on aircraft What have you been doing? And he said that as soon as they took off from Adelaide, the person in the next seat was obviously very, very nervous and started talking to him about how he was so afraid of flying, how he was very, very scared.

And the only thing which would calm him down was a whiskey.

Oh, jeez, well, if I have to, yeah, but that's all the way up Tonkin Island.

But Perth Airport's pretty good.

Oh, no, they've got the new thing now.

You've got to do the same thing as you have to do in every other state.

That'll be fun.

I have been, well, obviously I went to the first Test match in Darwin and the day that I flew out for my US holiday was the day that was day one in Mackay.

So I was actually following that in Perth Airport before I flew off and I flew into LA via Sydney.

So once I landed in Sydney, I sort of caught up on the score from day one.

And then by the time I got to LA, That evening I was in L.A., day two was going on, but obviously it only lasted two days.

Yeah.

You know, I remember, you know, you think you've climbed a massive mountain, but when you ride back into Perth Airport, no one really cares where you've been and what that bike's all about.

So it's a bit of a reality, you know, reality moment when you ride back to Perth and no one really cares what you've done over there.
