Person-centered care

We all know this as family and professional caregivers.

It's really the foundation of person-centered care.

So they approach treats the individual instead of the disease.

And we look at, you know, the person's history and their current experiences with the world, their personality, rather than managing the generic symptom of, in this case, repetitive phone calling.

I think sometimes people can be quite quickly labelled.

So I do believe that, I think we all strive to give person-centred care.

I think it may, and again, it's perception, but I think It's about recognising the individual and their values and what matters to them.

And I'm just thinking about person-centred care in relation to what you said earlier about being safe.

And sometimes we, I think, sometimes we might think of safe as being just like physically safe or safe kind of practices.

But actually what I heard there was about psychological safety, emotional safety.

And, you know, that is a great concern for me is about succession planning.

And I guess that leads us into questions about the paper.

So maybe the first question is, what is patient-centred care? And maybe a follow-up to that, in which countries in the world is it used?

Actually, patient-centered care, yeah, it's one of the studies we conducted.

And then finally, we've got Niall Clay.

So Niall is a hospital pharmacist involved in autism and ADHD, supporting inclusive perten- person-centered care program.

He was the PPI, um, that ...

So the patient and public involvement rep on that, due to having personal experience of his brother, who lives with autism and ADHD.

My first involvement was whilst I was at university.

Uh, my final dissertation project was focused on improving pharmacy professionals' communication skills when supporting patients living with autism.

And then my dissertation tutor sort of passed my details on to the CPPE to help with one of their projects, which you mentioned, the, uh, autism and ADHD, uh, inclusive person-centered care course.

I just did a short video, 'cause my brother's diagnosed with autism and ADHD, so I've got a bit of lived experience, as well as experience working as a pharmacist and with patients living with autism.
