Person-centered care

And the conversation isn't always patient-centered.

You know, we talk about having patient-centered care a lot, but the person that is missing from those conversations is the patient most of the time.

We're thinking about the disease process.

What is their risk factors? What does the data show? And listen, I'm a data girl, you know, aw, through and through, and we're not looking at the lived experience of our patient and the uniqueness that that brings.

Our mission is to spark informed dialogue, promote transparency, and equip every stakeholder from providers to payers to patients with the insight they need to navigate cancer care with clarity, confidence, and purpose.

My name is Deirdre Saleh, I go by Dee, and I have been working in the oncology space for just over 15 years, and I am so excited to be your host for this episode as we talk about person-centered care and what it really means in the cancer space.

Today, as you will see, I'm speaking with two wonderful humans.

I've got Coco and Leon, and we are going to discuss the importance of bringing the whole person into the center of the care continuum.

And I think lends this really kind of unique viewpoint that you'll be able to share with the audience.

So really appreciate the time and your, again, like your generosity of spirit for both of you for sharing your stories with everyone.

And Leon, I want to pivot to what you just said, right, which is this idea of person-centered care.

Um, well, uh, in my opinion, you know, patient-centered care extend beyond muscle strength.

And, um, uh, we should be looking to patient, you know, activity of daily living, their ability to go to work, take care of their family, um, um, uh, plan, you know, pregnancy safely.

In the GCC guidelines, there's also an emphasis on special, you know, cultural issues in, in our region like, you know, fasting, um, you know, cultural, you know, consideration, family, you know, um, uh, support.
