Perfect Days

So it's not like a full-fledged TV series, just to kind of, um, reset my, my mind, um, so it's not always, like, anime focused.

And I have a list of movies that I've wanted to see, and this one that I'm gonna talk about is one that I've wanted to watch for a long time, and so I had the opportunity recently, and it's the 2023 Japanese language film, Perfect Days.

Courtney, have you heard of this, or have you seen this movie before? I, I assume not.

No, I haven't seen it, but I've only heard about it, I think, in, like, passing, but mostly through you.

... that is really welcoming and, and, and beguiling to an audience.

You, you sit down to his movie, and it lectures you a little bit about what you're going- how you have to behave, and I, I love the fact that that's Koji Yakusho, who is this deadpan actor known for, for his stillness and his poise in movies like Cure, and recently in Perfect Days where he has this warmth to him but he keeps it quiet.

And here he's just screaming and yelling and shouting.

I was thinking someone suggested a film to me the other day called Perfect Days.

With Wim Wenders directed it? Wim Wenders with the Japanese dude who cleans the bathrooms? Yes.

I will gladly do Perfect Days.

I have that on Blu-ray.

think some of it is just the way it's delivered too that's off-putting to me is you know we'll talk about um perfect days but just the scene of him going through and they're flipping through the cassettes and they're in the record store and they're or the music store, just the way you found music then, oh, this looks like it might be kind of cool.

I get overwhelmed, you know, like the streaming things.

Even if I just want to listen to the stuff I have, you just get hit with all this, oh, here's something new you might like.

um yeah let's let's talk about perfect days you're the second person to talk about this on this podcast and um I watched it because of the recommendation of Nick Triolo before I had him on the podcast.

But what do you like about this movie? What speaks to you about it?

I, um, I'm a big fan of Robin Sharma, and in an email he sent the other day, he recommended a film, uh, and it's called Perfect Days.

And I'm a real Lou Reed fan, and I, I don't know if y- any of you would remember his, um, his album Transformer, and Perfect Day, which is the song on it which I love.

I won't sing it to you.
