It could be that Ray simply wanted to end it all and destroy his hard drive so that any secrets he had kept did not get out following his death.

mean, anyone who's ever watched the movie Rudy about the Notre Dame walk-on football player, by the way, most of the movie is as much of a fraud as the Penn State scandal story is.

And I grew up as a huge Notre Dame fan.

I was actually at the game where they filmed the Boston College game where they filmed at halftime the final scenes for the movie Rudy.
