Peninsula Park

For an example, let's go back about six months in time and head to Northeast Portland.

It's a crisp morning at Peninsula Park.

A few dozen people are gathered under the gazebo near the park's rose garden for a special activity.

The Friends of Peninsula Park had recently added interpretive signs to several locations in the park to highlight the area and its history.

A lot of the pr- protests, a lot of the George Floyd protests started at Peninsula.

He says in order to see hip-hop in Portland, MCs, DJs, and b-boys, he had to go to the park jams.

There would be park jams at Peninsula Park, occasionally at Irving Park.

They would happen under the park's gazebo.

So we had all these funk bands that would play at the park jams in the summer months, in the spring months.
