Now, the abnormal discharge is characterized as discharge that is mucusy or has pus, and then we could have pelvic or testicular pain.

Long-term complications, this leads to pelvic inflammatory disease, infertility, ectopic pregnancy, and chronic pelvic pain.

So we are gonna treat this specifically with doxycycline antibiotic, and if a person is pregnant, we would give them azithromycin instead.

There are known issues with doxycycline crossing the, uh, placenta barrier and causing birth defects, so that's why we're gonna sub that for azithromycin.

It's gonna be foul-smelling, painful urination, pelvic tes- testicular pain.

Very s- similar signs and symptoms to chlamydia except that discharge we're looking at thick yellow-green versus mucusy or pusy.

It's gonna cause the same exact issues as chlamydia as, as it relates to pelvic inflammatory disease infertility.

However, the difference with gonorrhea is it can end up, um, if it's left untreating, causing long-term systemic, um, issues in the body, um, and the person can end up with inflammatory things like arthritis, issues with the heart, issues with the liver.
