Penny, would you like to take us over to Pelagia to see what the humans and the wild men over there are doing?
PennyHOST
36:17
So after the explosion of Mount Doom, which was after the battle with Adar's army at the end of season one, the people who managed to survive miraculously, the pyroclastic cloud of the volcano, simply walk out of what will become Mordor and are led by the Numenoreans to an abandoned settlement that's on the coast called Pelargir, which was is where they're, I guess, Numenor used to have a colony there, but now it's just empty.
PennyHOST
36:46
So all these straggling survivors and what they call wild men, there's like sort of just generally the Southlanders, are living in Pilargir trying to make a go of it.
PennyHOST
36:57
And when we meet back up with them, it's because Bronwyn has died and Arendir is moping about in the woods looking for, I think, wood for her funeral pyre.
PennyHOST
37:29
And he meets up with a thoroughly uninteresting woman and has a flirtation with her.
PennyHOST
37:34
And they also meet up with Erundir, who saves them.
PennyHOST
37:38
And they all go back to Pelargir.
PennyHOST
37:40
They meet up with Theo, who has sort of become like kind of a leader of the Southlanders because Bronwyn was so much of a leader to them.

can, as we see in this series.
Marilyn R. PukkilaHOST
44:13
So we've now seen rituals of death and mourning for Harfwits, Elves, Southrons in Pelagir, Numenoreans, and Uruks.
Marilyn R. PukkilaHOST
44:24
So we've got five different cultures, and you might almost say five different creatures, all of whom are subject to death.
Marilyn R. PukkilaHOST
44:32
So they are united by a need to recognize, sacralize, and memorialize death and their dead ones.

Fish, trade, honest bargaining.
speaker_0HOST
2:55
And you have the sense that Pelagir will not be.
speaker_0HOST
2:58
Cargo from Umbar, missing supplies, weapons, politics, and you begin wondering, who profits if kingdoms remain hungry? And more importantly, who loses if the supplies are recovered? For Amatheo, the dreams worsen, not every night, but enough.
speaker_0HOST
3:17
The broken ship still waters, grey skies, and now something new.

4:06
Thoughts tend to settle thickly on Rayna.
speaker_1PANELIST
4:10
She's missing her uncle, she's missing the North.
speaker_1PANELIST
4:14
It's true that it's going to be exciting going south, and Pelagir is definitely going to be a whole new set of problems.

So, to put

Beric is once again separated from Isildur, but the young man picks up a new companion, a woman named Estrid, who claims to be estranged from her fiancé.
Jessie EarlHOST
22:05
Isildur and Estrid were saved from the wild men by Erandir, who leads them to Pelagir.
Jessie EarlHOST
22:11
I can never say Pelagir.
Jessie EarlHOST
22:13
I literally hear the word in the show and I cannot say it for some reason.
Jessie EarlHOST
22:18
We learned that Bronwyn died from leaving the show and also from an orc's arrow poison, leaving Theo as the only healer among the humans.
Rob DaviauGUEST
23:02
Uh, the Witch-king has knocked down the gate and is going in and confronts Gandalf, and then out in Pelennor Fields they hear the horns of the Rohirrim, and the Ro- Rohirrim are out there, which distracts, uh, the Witch-king.
Rob DaviauGUEST
23:15
And so you've got sort of the Siege of Minas Tirith and Pelennor Fields going on, and then later in that battle ships arrive up the river and it's Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli, 'cause they commandeered the ships from down in Pelargir.
Rob DaviauGUEST
23:28
And then meanwhile Sam and Frodo are marching towards Mount Doom.
Rob DaviauGUEST
23:32
Now, in the books, these things are kind of a little out of time.
Rob DaviauGUEST
23:51
Um, so you have four different battlefields, or three different battlefields and then Mordor, which is sort of an interactive track that, um, the better you do on the battlefields, the better you're gonna do on that one.
Rob DaviauGUEST
24:03
So you've got Minas Tirith and Pelennor Fields, and then we're calling it the Great Port of Gondor.
Rob DaviauGUEST
24:10
I know it's Pelargir because for people who don't know the license well, Pelennor and Pelargir look like the same word, so we call it the Great Port of Gondor.
Rob DaviauGUEST
24:17
And so you are trying to commandeer ships as Good and you're trying to stall as Evil Or get away, or it's longer odds actually kill all three of those heroes before they get on the ships.
RosieHOST
18:50
Whether that is protecting his community.
RosieHOST
18:53
We know that Numenor is colonizing Pelagir.
RosieHOST
18:56
Doesn't seem from the finale of season two like Kemen is going to be a particularly... friendly overlord so I can imagine a Theo that has spent five years under the boot of Numenor seeing this as a way that he can protect his people and so he takes a ring for a good reason because Sauron is always good at finding his way in he could also say well look you can trust me I killed Adar who killed your mum like there are a few decent pictures Sauron could give to Theo and I think if he's a young boy and he's desperate, I can imagine him taking a ring.
RosieHOST
19:33
And with your question of why would he give a ring to a young boy from the Southlands?
Marilyn R. PukkilaHOST
14:25
Indeed
Sara BrownHOST
14:25
... as a group from Pelargir searches for Theo, Arondir tells Isildur that Theo has escaped from worse situations before now.
Sara BrownHOST
14:33
And then they discover a scene of recent slaughter.
Sara BrownHOST
14:36
The next morning, some of the folk are unwilling to continue to search, but Estrid suggests that they look north where the forests are wilder.

13 MINS LATER

Sara BrownHOST
27:49
Uh, Theo thanks Arondir for keeping his promise to Bronwyn to watch over him.
Sara BrownHOST
27:52
Arondir says he must go now to g- to keep another promise and asks Theo if he wants to come.
Sara BrownHOST
27:59
Theo says he has his own promises to keep, and so Arondir bids him farewell, hailing Theo as the Lord of Pelargir.
Sara BrownHOST
28:08
Hmm.
NateHOST
17:01
And it says this was remembered in Minas Anor and in Ithilien.
NateHOST
17:07
And their love for Castamere was further lessened when it became seen that he cared little for the land and thought only of the fleets and purpose to move the king's seat to Pelargir.
NateHOST
17:22
So he was also thinking about moving the capital to some port town.
BenHOST
17:25
Well, yeah.
NateHOST
17:46
And so was avenged for Ornandil.
NateHOST
17:50
But Castamere's sons escaped.
NateHOST
17:53
And with others of their kin, and this is what you were asking about, they took many of the fleets of Gondor and held out long at Pelargir.
NateHOST
18:03
And Eldacar didn't have the ships to chase them.
