Peking Man

You don't see transitional forms or missing links or anything that can connect the theory of evolution to what we see today.

The gradualism is completely destroyed and every once in a while you hear of an ape man that's being discovered, whether it's Piltdown Man or Java Man or Peking Man or Nebraska Man.

You just get weary of hearing about all these mans that end up being either a fraud fiction or fantasy.

They get the big media splash and then all of a sudden what happens? They just fall apart.

That's a crazy concept to consider.

These intermediate mutations, partly human being, partly monkey, are known to the human being under names like Africanus, Peking Man, and Neanderthals.

Four different kinds of these have maintained themselves over the past millennia, and their descendants do still live today, yet not in large groups, and only isolated or in very, very small groups.

They are so wild and timid.

The Evas were nothing less than very savage descendants of those thousands of years ago, outset ones, who had then become deprived of means of assistance.

So in other words, there was a race that came here, something happened, and then they were subsequently isolated, forced into savagery.

And these races of humans, known as Africanus, Neanderthals, Peking Man, are considered to be essentially what we would determine to be Yetis, Bigfoot, Sasquatch.

Interesting, if you can find the article, rare to find.

But you can see that the physical anthropologists and prehistoric archaeologists still have a lot of work to do on the problem of earliest men.

Peking Man and Some Early Westerners The earliest known Chinese are called Sinanthropus or Peking Man because the finds were made near that city.

In World War II, the United States Marine Guard at our embassy in Peking tried to help get the bones out of the city before the Japanese attack.

Nobody knows where the bones are now.

But should you catch a moraine with a sack of old bones, perhaps we could achieve peace in Asia by returning them.

Fortunately, there is a complete set of casts of the bones.

Peking Man lived in a cave in a limestone hill, made tools, cracked animal bones to get the marrow out, and used fire.

Incidentally, the bones of Peking Man were found because Chinese dig for what they call dragon bones and dragon teeth.

... look like a stegosaurus, [laughs] that there were ancient archaeologists and that knowledge was lost?

Well, it was something it reminds me of, I talk in the book about the Peking Man fossils, which are probably the most famous lost fossils in history.

It was a group of not just men, but men, women, and children that were discovered in China, uh, in about, you know, the 1910s, 1920s.

And at the time, there were locals there who called them dragon bones, and in fact, the place they found-

Peking Man, the bones there, was called Dragon Bone Hill.

So people back then definitely knew that these were the bones of some sort of animal, and, you know, I don't think it's implausible that they might have thought that these animals existed in the past.

Once there are enough people who can truly say that, the human species will be on the threshold of a new kind of existence, as different from ours as ours is from that of Peking Man.

It will at last be consciously fulfilling its real destiny." So what they believe is that we're being held back as a species by all of these inferior races, and that the thing that really needs to happen is we need to thin it all out, get rid of them, or control them, and then selectively breed them like we're breeding animals.

Now, it's probably not a huge surprise to you that, um, the, the guys who wrote Animal Farm are involved in this, right? Uh, uh, Aldous Huxley, um, uh, George Orwell, and, and, um, you know, so, and the like.

When the first Neanderthal fossils were discovered in Europe in the 1800s, people assumed that was where humanity started.

When Peking Man was found in China in the 1920s, it seemed to confirm that Asia was the cradle of humanity.

Africa? Africa was barely even considered.

The racism of the era made it almost unthinkable that the birthplace of humanity could be in a continent that European colonizers had dismissed as primitive.

And then the second one was found maybe two, three years later in Peking in China.

And he was called Peking Man.

Got total world coverage in the media saying, oh, tremendous breakthrough.

We found the two missing links now.
