So I started looking it up because they were talking about how they do this Pee Dee style barbecue, which-

What does that mean?

mean?Um, Pee Dee is a region of northeastern South Carolina, and they say that they originated the whole har- whole ha- hog barbecue where you do the burn barrel and move the coals.

Mm-hmm.

... and you won the Pepsi Tournament Tell us about the Pepsi Tournament, your days as a golfer, that mindset, Newberry College era.

So the Pepsi Tournament, um, was a kind of a regional tournament in the Pee Dee region.

Uh, from the time I was born until the, you know, the time I won it, and probably up until about 10 years ago, it was an invitational tournament.

It was the tournament for that area.

Oh, absolutely.

Now, just so I have the location correct, was this the upstate of South Carolina?

This was the Pee Dee area, so right above Florence.

A- and in particular, it was right here in this part of the state.

They call it kind of the Pee Dee region, Myrtle Beach, Horry County, Georgetown County, working your way into Northeast South Carolina here.

When Donald Trump came for that rally for Darlene Graham, it was in Myrtle Beach.

And, and the, uh, uh, the, the strategy for Graham, uh, with that Trump, uh, uh, rally, was to drive up her support as much as she could here in Horry County.

A- and in particular, it was right here in this part of the state.

They call it kinda the Pee Dee region, Myrtle Beach, Horry County, Georgetown County, working your way into northeast South Carolina here.

And, and the, uh, uh, the, the strategy for Graham, uh, with that Trump, uh, uh, rally was to drive up her support as much as she could here in Horry County.

Where is Graham looking to counter that? I think one place to keep an eye on is right here.

This is sort of, they call this the Pee Dee Region, Myrtle Beach here, then going inland northeast South Carolina.

The third candidate here, Russell Fry, this was his congressional district.

He swept the district in the primary here.

This is what happened.

The swamps in the upper reaches of the Pee Dee, the Black, and the Waccamaw Rivers were frozen solid, and the Woodcock, that in winter abound in this region, were thus driven to the softer grounds farther downstream.

It rarely freezes over, only once in about twenty years, as the records show.

Uh, Darleen Graham really carried, like, the interior of the state, particularly her, uh, home county of Lexington, which is, uh, just outside the state capital, right in the middle of the state.

And then Russell Fry carried the coastal parts of the state, as well as this region called the Pee Dee, which is, uh, what you see approaching the coast.

Uh, very rural, uh, very, very conservative area with some, um, I, I guess old school Democrat holdouts throughout there.

Um, so really interesting dynamic.

Um, why this rally today is so important is it's taking place in Myrtle Beach.

Uh, it's gonna attract a lot of voters from the Pee Dee, and that was the area that Russell Fry carried.

Russell Fry has already endorsed Darleen, uh, is still close with President Trump, which I think is why the endorsement came together so quickly.

And, um, that really is what makes today's event so significant, is, uh, if Darleen wants to be competitive against Norman, uh, she's gonna have to run up some numbers, uh, in Horry County in particular, which is where Myrtle Beach is.

Maybe a moderate edge at this point, but I'm willing to concede that possibly Trump's late visit there could move some voters toward, toward Graham.

If we're seeing the numbers coming in on Tuesday night and she's not posting pretty comfortable margins in, in the Lowcountry there and in the Pee Dee where, um, where Myrtle Beach is, I, I think that's not gonna be a good night for her, just because Norman has such strength in the Upstate.

Yeah.

No, I mean, uh, that's the thing when y- y- you get to, uh, you know...

Um, so I think if you see Norman pulling pretty good numbers, you know, maybe he's not winning, you know, Lexington or Richland, but if he's pretty close to her there, that should be her base.

Yeah.

So if you're seeing those numbers there, then I think his numbers in the Upstate would be even higher, and she would have to have massive numbers in the Pee Dee and in the Lowcountry to combat that.

Um, and what about if it's, uh, if it's her night? What would you be looking at? Would you be...
