directed by Ty West, who made the great ex-Pearl Maxine trilogy, takes on the classic Charles Dickens tale with Oscar-nominated actor Johnny Depp starring in the lead role.

A Christmas Carol is one of my all-time favorite Christmas tales, and there really hasn't been an adaptation that I did not enjoy on some level.

This one looks entertaining, and Depp looks to be having a ball.

They're filming a porno, okay? So they get out there, and we've got Mia Goth, who, as you guys know, has now...

kind of become part of this X franchise that became the prequel of Pearl and then like Maxine with like triple X like three X's Maxine so I haven't seen that one but my moment from this movie like although very like cringy and funny like maybe it feels bad to say like I really enjoyed just how dumb and funny a lot of the parts of this movie were but But so the like the nerdy camera guy, RJ, when he's I don't know the actor's name, but Jenna Ortega and him are like a couple.

And he when she starts to become more interested in the concept of making like porn films, he's he's like, you don't want to do that.

Like, we're going to make real films someday.

Like, good luck getting out.

And he takes the van and he starts to drive away.

And then he is met with Pearl, who is one of the old lady, her and her husband own the property.

And she's just ominously standing in the middle of it's in the dark, too.

And they had a little bit of like an AI deep fake thing.

where they were literally just playing through a bunch of old cast members that are dead now that were like the real people aren't dead like the actual actors are still alive but like the characters in the movies have been killed so it was essentially all of the killers from the movie and then like a couple other characters that were close to sydney that had been killed um they kind of like cycled through them like to taunt her essentially which i thought was actually kind of cool um so yeah Scream 7 actually pretty good and then Maxine is the final part of the trilogy that is the X trilogy which that was there were three movies the first two were released in the same year it was X and Pearl and X is set in like the late 1970s and it follows like a group of early 20 somethings let's say who were going to like a rural farm in Texas to make an amateur porn like that's what they were doing because they were planning on selling it um pearl is a prequel to that that's set in like the 1920s and focuses on homicidal old woman that was the killer from x and kind of like her as like a young woman and how she became this crazy killer um in both movies um mia goth play well in x mia goth plays one of the main character like young characters and she also plays the old woman like in like heavy makeup and and then she plays the old woman as a young woman in Pearl.

Um, and now Maxine is a sequel is a direct sequel to X taking place six or seven years after X. Um, and it's the same character that she played in X, um, Um, who she became a porn actress and now she's trying to break into like actual Hollywood and it's her getting cast in a movie.

Um, as somebody is going around LA basically killing other killing people that she has some connection to.

So I did like it.

Like, that whole trilogy was actually good.

I think Pearl was probably the best one.

Especially because it was, like, a weird period piece.

So I did.

I watched Maxine for my M movie because I hadn't seen it yet, but I have watched all I've watched Pearl and X.

Okay, I haven't seen those.

They're okay.

I feel like the third part does not really fit in and is not as scary, but I feel like the first two for me, very scary.

X slash Pearl.

Yeah.

Yeah.

And then in the sequel, which is actually a prequel, Mia Goth plays her as the younger...

Well, exactly.

And I feel like that's maybe one of the failures of the movie is that those connections are never fully realized other than the literal one of the old woman in Pearl.

You see her in her youth and she's living on said farm, a very isolated life.

So it keeps it...

Yeah, so it's artsy in a weird way, and it kind of took me back to watching, say, X and Pearl and Maxine, which does three different time eras of a horror film, and during each era, like in X, it's very 1970s.

granular cinematography, aspect ratio is different.

Then you go into Pearl that goes into like Technicolor.

And so they're doing kind of that Wizard of Oz vibe.

And then you go to Maxine that goes 1980s.
